Kristi Noem has been working with the producer of “Duck Dynasty” to pitch a reality TV show—titled “The American”—where immigrants will compete in a string of challenges across the country “for the honor of fast-tracking their way to U.S. citizenship,” according to a new report.

Ok frequentists, let’s call a truce. This has gone too far.
They really think their mass firings had nothing to do with the problems we’re now seeing.

"Associations" are just bad descriptive studies.
No-one cares whether smartphone use, or any other exposure, is ASSOCIATED with health!
This tells us nothing of practical use.
The only thing we should care about finding out is to what extent smartphone use, or any other exposure, CAUSE mental health.
STOP ESTIMATING ASSOCIATIONS!

I arrived at the conclusion that (1) there's a lot of interesting stuff about interactions and (2) the figure I was looking for does not exist.
So, I made it myself! Here's a simple illustration of how to control for confounding in interactions:>
Does anybody have a good visualization to explain how interactions can be confounded, and why interactions require interaction controls?
@urisohn.bsky.social maybe?
(Asking because I have an idea, but want to check out what exists already before investing the effort)
Thread? THREAD! Let's look at Surmount 5. Tirzepatide vs Semaglutide. What's better? What's the same? What does it mean for the future of obesity medicine?

Clearly Tirz is the better drug across multiple indicators.
I also like the idea of Treat to Target especially as someone prescribing these drugs. Getting a normalized BMI and WHtR is easy to explain to patients for risk reductions. So for now we can crown Tirz as king.
Speaking of fibrates and putting yet another nail in their coffin. Tirzepatide. 30% decrease in TGs in Surmount 5
On CVD topic, because it's a "dirty" drug it'll be hard, maybe impossible to figure out what's helping & what's hurting. But I'll consider prescribing it for certain CVD patients

Negativity bias means that bad news spreads and gets recommended more. Meaning that incumbency effects might actually be negative for the president now? Regardless recommendation divorced from social graph has probably made the thermostat much more sensitive.

For the umpteenth - but almost certainly not last time - the institutions of the American economy depend on the institutions of American democracy.
I really don't see how rights are irrelevant because the economy is all that matters.
Even if you think the economy is by far the most important thing, rights are a crucial part of a well-functioning economy. The White House's attack on rights in the US is bad on it's own AND harming the economy.

White House blasts Dems ‘crossing the line’ by storming ICE facility
The White House slammed Democrats after three Congress members stormed into a New Jersey ICE prison for an "oversight visit." The prison is full of alleged dangerous criminals.
I just really need everybody to understand that everything that’s happening in and to the global economy now (and all the businesses and people in it) is the entirely predictable result of the intentional decisions of one guy who doesn’t understand how the global economy works.

"What did they do?" -- Trump has no idea what he's signing and has to have it explained to him
This thread is about SW, but really it's about modern popular entertainment generally. With the internet & social media, everything is on the surface, transparent. Creators operate under constant scrutiny, with fans constantly demanding this or that.
The regime just arrested the Mayor of Newark. We're in the phase of attempted fascist takeover where opposition elected officials are subject to arbitrary arrest.
Alina Habba, Trump’s personal lawyer and now the interim U.S. attorney for NJ, announces that the Trump administration has arrested the mayor of Newark at an private prison that ICE had decently contracted as a detention center. His arrest is seemingly for trespass.
