- Historians will *absolutely* make a point of contrasting his solemn promise that he would just be a simple umpire "calling balls and strikes" as fairly as he could with his actual record of deeply reckless and thoroughly activist decisions.
- In my opinion? Absolutely. Taney brought us the disastrous Dred Scott, but Roberts has delivered horrible rulings on a wide variety of issues — Citizens United, Heller, Shelby County, Brnovich, Dobbs, and of course Trump v US.
- Sean Duffy will be out later to insist that Joe Biden set the work schedule before he left office.
- (NYT) - As few as three air traffic controllers were scheduled to work on Monday evening at the facility guiding planes to and from Newark Liberty International Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration said, far fewer than the target of 14 controllers .. #EWR www.nytimes.com/2025/05/12/b...
- I agree with John Roberts that our schools should do more to explain how much of today’s crisis stems from outrageous rulings by courts like his.
- John Roberts, who has abdicated the Supreme Court's role in government and through his decisions, has facilitated the deforming of the government's structure and the debilitation of public education, would like to blame the teachers, thank you very much. www.politico.com/news/2025/05...
- How long do you think it takes a NYT reporter to order dinner? “Reports around this establishment suggest that this particular patron is interested in procuring for sustenance the ground meat from a grass-fed bovine, shaped into a flat disc and fried on the grill before being placed on a roll.”
- Phrases found in this NYT piece: — “ethical alarms about the potential for corruption” — “an increasingly no-holds-barred atmosphere in Washington under Trump 2.0” — “striking disdain for onetime norms of propriety and for traditional legal and political guardrails” www.nytimes.com/2025/05/12/u...
- Yeah, I’m not a New Yorker but his massive personal faults are only matched by his staggering professional incompetence so I’m not really seeing the appeal? “We need an asshole to fight Trump”? Yeah, I visit NYC often and I think you have more than one option there.
- “Joe Biden did nothing to fix the system that they knew was broken.” He did nothing — except pass a $105 billion program to fix the system. Reporters, Sean Duffy thinks you’re incapable of a simple Google search.
- In 2024, Biden signed into law a $105 billion measure designed to end a shortfall in air traffic controllers. In 2025, Trump came in and instead began firing hundreds of them. So you can see how *clear* it is that Biden is to blame for the shortage now.
- The NYT and SCOTUS both believe it isn’t “corruption” unless an official is caught accepting a giant bag of cash with literal dollar signs on it *and* saying in front of witnesses “in exchange for this illegal offer of money I will do ____”
