- I asked the one high ranking policeman I saw on 5th Ave why there were so few police. He said “We did not expect anything like this. Don’t tell anyone but I’ve only got 44 officers out here — and it’s a great crowd, great event, no incidents.”

- It was cold, it was dreary. But there was a mix of festive/angry that I've never felt at the #handsoff in Portage, Michigan. Hear that 4,000 came out.

- So we’re 75 days into trumps second term, people are protesting everywhere. Markets have had two days of absolutely apocalyptic losses. There are grad students being disappeared and a man with an autism awareness tattoo was sent to a super scary prison in El Salvador. They’ve cut cancer research..
- Elons taken a chainsaw to the federal government effecting everything from food safety to bank regulation to cancer research. I hope I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure we’re about to see why it’s cheaper to have regulators rather than to have actual catastrophes.
- I’ve seen a lot of assumptions in the media that Trump (and Musk) are targeting institutions with loyalty tests. But that’s not quite right. They’re using dominance tests. And the difference between these two things matter. 🧵

- LGBTQIA minors make up 40% of the endangered minor runaway population. They are 120% more likely to be unhoused. They are also uniquely at risk for exploitation and trafficking. This is breathtakingly evil.
- New — The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) was told this week by DOJ that they'd lose their funding if the org didn't remove any mentions of LGBTQIA+ issues from their public materials, I've learned. Staff were told they need to deadname trans kids in their reports to comply.
