Moderna’s combination COVID/influenza vaccine candidate mRNA-1083 has OUTPERFORMED the current standalone vaccines for BOTH viruses in a large (8000+) Phase III trial. A combination vaccine would make it easier for people to get vaccinated against COVID and influenza at the same time. 🧪🧵⬇️
- New experiment this spring - I made some containers with small NE #nativeplants (and native-adjacent, like moss phlox and purple-leaf violets). Trying to sell them via FB. Blooms in these 7 pots: columbine, running groundsel, birds-foot violet, foamflower, Robin's plantain barely open.

Equipoise means that no-one is exposed to excess risk just to test the therapy. That's specifically *why* vaccine trials don't use placebo arms. Ethical violation as POLICY.

- Our sassafras grove opened its flowers today! Here's one, viewed under a 10x hand lens. It's a female flower (the entire grove is female, as it all grew from a single 100+ year old tree). Note the 6 staminoids around the pistil. Whole thing is barely 1/4 inch wide, very cute. 🌱 #nativeplants

- Blooming in my garden right now: Virginia bluebells, goldenseal, rue anemone, non-native bleeding heart, serviceberry (not shown because the damn wind wouldn't stop long enough for a photo). Bloodroot and twinleaf are already gone by; sassafras looks like one day away!
