Kierkegaarden Cop
Let's try the medium place
- I really feel like more people need to constructively engage with this! You can think the moderation/centrism discourse is often braindead (as I do!) but the center left really needs a pretty robust convo about what winning, say, an Iowa or Kansas or Texas or Ohio senate seat would look like.

View full threadThe answers to "controversial" issues can be straightforward: - trans in bathrooms? Don't peek and it's not a problem. - trans in sports? Pre-puberty and intramural sports, it doesn't matter. Competitive sports, let the governing body decide based on the science./1
- The answers are: Trans in bathrooms? That’s a distraction from the convicted, rapist president who wants to distract from all the pedo GOP leaders getting arrested. Trans in sports? That’s a distraction from the convicted, rapist president who’s gutting women’s sports and rights. Just attack GOP.
- The big problem is Dems get dragged into defending against strawman arguments like "So you think it's OK for men to stalk women in bathrooms?" when they should have prepared answers like "So you think it's OK to look over stall doors to check people's private parts?"
- You’re right that they should have prepared answers, but the answer should always pivot to attack the GOP. “I have a plan to fight back against the real, convicted, sex criminal: Trump.” Don’t answer attacks, attack back. Casuals see the person answering as losing.
- Pepe Mujica, the anarchist guerilla who became president of Uruguay, has passed on. He leaves behind as good a legacy as it's possible to leave. So it goes. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...
- He seemed like such a genuinely kind and compassionate leader, and in a rarity for people like him, everything he fought for didn't come to nothing.
- That’s connected
- Pretty wild how the opposition party for the democrats is… the democrats
- Always has been. Reagan’s “first commandment” was “Thou shalt not speak ill of a fellow Republican.” One of the few things elected Dems should take from the GOP is to ALWAYS pivot from any criticism of fellow Dems to Trump/GOP. Attack, attack, attack—the Republicans.

- Enormous challenges, but while I generally agree with their conclusions, their reasoning is wrong on a lot of it in ways that don’t even require any external knowledge. Like, neither Mt Everest nor Antarctica have been barren their entire existence—plate tectonics is real. Antarctica had dinosaurs.
- I’m actually really glad the anti-trans Republican candidate lost in Nebraska the very same night after a bunch of Very Serious People people spent all day “yes, yes, Dems need to be serious about moderating on social issues to win”-ing across the internet.
- Counterpoint: Very Serious People never update priors
