I’m actually really glad the anti-trans Republican candidate lost in Nebraska the very same night after a bunch of Very Serious People people spent all day “yes, yes, Dems need to be serious about moderating on social issues to win”-ing across the internet.
May 14, 2025 04:08It’s helpful if you have an easy story to tell.
“Here’s the bullshit they say. Here’s voters telling them to shut up.”
Tons of articles & op-eds about what Dems need to do "moderate" & appeal to "centrist" voters.
Zero articles or op-eds offering advice to Republicans to abandon meaningless culture wars, to expect the wealthy & business to pay their taxes, & to shift closer to working class voters.
Huh. Wonder why?
It’s even better because she was the incumbent and this was the first time she ran transphobic ads
Exactly. And what is the “moderate” position on trans people? That they kinda sorta exist, but not really? That they get some rights but not all? There’s no moderate middle ground when the other side is saying “you shouldn’t exist and you don’t deserve to be treated as human.”
If anything, being unconditionally and vocally pro-trans is actually more moderate than the average corporate Dem's position.
OK, Omaha gets to keep using semiconducotrs and smartphones:
bsky.app/profile/john...Having my continued existence and place in the world considered a moderate social issue is just so cool
It'd be super great if people could resist the urge to make a "Many people are saying..." story but leftishly.
Anyone wants to negotiate people's basic rights for votes (even if that plan was somehow connected to reality), the only kindness they need to be shown is where to find the door.
If you are neutral in the face of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.
It is not a difficult choice.
Are you talking about the Bulwark article? Or is there a different one? Because the Bulwalk are serious but not Democrats—they are never-Trump Republicans—of course, they think the Democrats should soften on social issues. But we are under no obligation to do that.
The majority of Americans do not want moderate. We want all the good things. Corporate Dems and their consultants don’t want to lose their sugar daddies. The hell with them.
Yes! 👏
Yeah! Turns out the Ds are the populist party! It’s just the Rs & reactionary MSM news trying to say we have lost the center! Trump’s approval rating is in the dumps. I’m in Iowa. The messages are finally breaking through - Case in point: Sold out
@petebuttigieg.bsky.social town hall tonight in IA!
The problem is moderates believe in nothing except money for themselves and they flip flop back and forth no matter how bad one party is because they have no principles.
Sane people are watching & doing, in every race in every state. The momentum is just getting started.
Ignore Dem-haters & do something!
Hell yes!
And of course these people will just keep doing that, learning absolutely nothing, like always. 🙄
But what about the poor cows? One of them is a sister.
👍🏼
O hay what's wrong with a little human sacrifice to win the coveted evil vote.
Thing is the Very Serious People were never pointing to evidence, so no evidence can point them away
Counterpoint: Very Serious People never update priors
