That Judge Hannah Dugan “intentionally misdirected federal agents away from” someone they were pursuing, according to a now-deleted post by Mr. Patel.

They all had lawyers, indictment by grand jury, a trial or a guilty plea where a judge ensured it was knowing & voluntary & access to an appeals process. In other words, all the hallmarks of due process.

- Reposted by Christopher Kumetz, MDThis is getting fewer headlines than it should. After coming to power promising to help working people, the president is revealing his real priorities by actively making it easier for banks to rip people off.
- Reposted by Christopher Kumetz, MDFriendly reminder. In the United States, criminals are entitled to due process. Even if you pay hush money rig an election, steal top secret documents, or incite a mob to overthrow the government; no matter how egregious your crimes, you’re entitled to due process.
- Reposted by Christopher Kumetz, MDThis is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

- Reposted by Christopher Kumetz, MDRights of due process don't depend on our personal opinions of the accused. For example, I regard the January 6, 2021, criminals as insurrectionists and traitors - yet I am still glad that each and every one of them got a proper trial before they were convicted and sentenced.

- So it’s illegal to hire someone who is here illegally, but you don’t see ICE knocking down businesses’ front doors and arresting the business owner that had hired the immigrants for 10, 20, 30 years. Just destroying families instead.
- Reposted by Christopher Kumetz, MDAs a Columbia alumnus (MA, MPhil, PhD), it’s hard right now to recommend the school to immigrants, with ambitions of academic freedoms and Nobel Prizes — graduates and faculty have won 88 of them — given it cares more about appeasing the Government than about academic integrity.
