- Still waters run deep.
- The Trump administration cut federal funding for a research project at Cornell University aimed at developing a heart pump designed for babies and children with congenital heart defects bringing the effort to a halt.
- Under court order, the government has released a nearly unredacted copy of the memorandum of understanding between the IRS and Homeland Security revealing how taxpayer data was shared for immigration enforcement.
- After being called out this week, DOGE quietly deleted 31 contracts from its website wiping out $122 million in supposed “savings” Musk’s team had claimed from cutting federal spending. But the site is still riddled with errors.
- DOGE staffers attempted to assign a team and take control of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), but CPB leaders resisted citing federal law that protects the nonprofit’s independence from government interference.
- The Department of Energy just announced plans to eliminate 47 regulations its biggest rollback ever under Trump’s “Zero-Based Regulation” order. What’s on the chopping block? - Efficiency standards for microwaves, ice makers, dehumidifiers, and more
- We strongly advise the public not to do this, it’s unsafe. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. posted photos of himself and his grandkids swimming in Rock Creek, a Washington waterway so contaminated with sewage runoff that swimming has been banned citywide for over 50 years.
- Library of Congress staff just showed what resistance looks like. After Trump abruptly fired Dr. Carla Hayden, the respected Librarian of Congress, he tried to install Todd Blanche, his former personal lawyer and current Deputy Attorney General, as acting librarian. Staff weren’t having it.
- The Trump admin is fast-tracking a uranium mine in Utah by slashing the permitting process to 14 days, bypassing environmental review and cutting the public out entirely. Projects like this are supposed to go through NEPA, the law that requires environmental impact assessments and public comment.
- Trump continues his attacks on the press this time gaslighting an ABC News reporter who asked about the ethics of accepting a nearly half-billion-dollar luxury jet from Qatar for free. Instead of answering, he told her she should be “embarrassed” for even asking.
