My opinions are solely my opinions.
- Poison yourself to own the libs.
- new from me for @wired.com : the EPA is moving to reorganize its scientific research office, which will likely kill off a small but crucial program devoted to studying the impacts of toxic chemicals—which has been a target of industry groups for years
- Timeline cleanse.
- It's increasingly difficult to stay informed and involved without feeling complete dread every hour of the day.
- The pure amount of terrible news we all read on a daily basis is exhausting... NSF, FEMA, NOAA, etc... I guess we don't need to help people anymore...
- Also, our old friend urban sprawl plays a pretty important role as well, especially when that sprawl is in areas with a growing number of manufactured housing and poverty... journals.ametsoc.org/view/journal...
- Bump.
- Are we great again yet?
- Puppy home.
- 2 days and I get to boop this snoot!
- I miss my dog. She doesn't even know democracy is crumbling. Lucky.
- One of my senior thesis students (Lydia Deppman) presenting her thesis research on riparian buffers and nitrogen within mixed land use areas. Great intersection between env. sci., GIS, and health!
- Me returning to work and trying to remember what I was doing on my GIS projects/research back in January...

- Me on Easter this year with my wife and dog gone now for 2 months (taking care of my MIL after major transplant surgery), thinking about Easter dinner at my gramdma's growing up, and still struggling to walk 10 weeks after breaking my ankle and leg...
- NWS offices are struggling with staff shortages, FEMA says it's underprepared, PDDs are being weaponized, wx/climate research funding is being eliminated, etc. All of this does not bode well for peak severe weather, wildland fire, and hurricane season. Is the goal to let more people die?
- I will be on the WeatherBrains podcast on Monday at 7:50pm eastern, talking about my latest published work on large outdoor gatherings, lightning, and tornadoes. You can watch via YouTube. #wx #tornado #lightning #disaster journals.ametsoc.org/view/journal...

- Whether we like it or not, climate change-driven disasters are coming. Burying our head in the sand won't stop the water from coming. Figuratively or literally...

- Anyone want to guess what tornado mortality was before the NWS, investment into infrastructure, improved health care, etc. Make tornado deaths great again! I really hate this administration...

- Overnight tornadoes = bad
- I am not a fan of forecasts predicting damage intensity of tornadoes. The EF scale is, at the very least, a function of the quality of structures damaged as much as it is tornado intensity. We illustrated this bias over a decade ago. More stuff to hit, greater odds of higher EF ratings. #wx
- I have made it up and down a flight of stairs with my grandpa walker. It hurts, but success. Soon...
- I miss my dog.
- I have been given permission to stand on my leg and walk with a walker.
- Me every day with this broken leg waiting for my wife and dog to get back from Indiana sometime in the next few months...
- Reminder as we move into the evening...
- Great idea to cut NOAA and FEMA... Just a great decision all around. What could go wrong?... ...oh... nm...
- Given the outlook for tornadoes across the Southeast tomorrow... Not ideal given NOAA cuts, ongoing FEMA issues, and all the other backward decisions that are aimed at hurting 99% of people, including those vulnerable in conservative states. The hazard won't discriminate, the disaster will. #wx

- 🚨 New paper alert 🚨. My former senior thesis student and I worked on this together. We did a comprehensive assessment of potential tornado and lightning exposure to large outdoor gatherings in the US. #disaster #hazard #GIS #wx #sports #festival journals.ametsoc.org/view/journal...
