Years ago I saw that youtuber shaun freaking out about Labour after they kicked out Corbyn, saying they were just Tories painted red, I thought he had lost it, and well.... guess he did in fact have a point, my bad.
I know I’m beating a dead horse on this lately, but pundits and consultants who argue for this stuff are actually just arguing that politicians should cater to the views that *they* hold, which they believe are uniquely reasonable and universal. Actual swing voters have mostly incoherent politics!
The most respectable sounding argument I have heard about lab leak, not based on conjecture, was one that questioned the cleavage of the cell, but then I looked it up and the type of cleavage it had is actually common in coronaviruses with natural origins.
The Nation was spoon-fed documents from a bad-faith Republican House committee and covered them as if they were a scandal.
The more I look into the lab leak the more shocked I am at how desperately the media tried to launder the theory into something respectable.

the thing thing about the admonition to “not take the bait” is that while it makes sense in the context of an election — where you are trying to communicate a narrow set of ideas broadly — it does not make sense in the context of “how do we make this president as unpopular as possible”
We can yell about Biden’s age all we want but I think the biggest issue he faced for reelection was that people thought he was President in 2020 because the actual president refused to speak or act about COVID

For all I know Martin is just lying, but if he isn’t, even without knowing anything else, I can say it has the potential to be unbelievably horrifying. This could be show trials of Comey and Muller, a pardon for Derek Chauvin, mass arrests of cops that stopped Jan 6th a bunch of horrible stuff.
Ed Martin as Pardon Attorney is going to be one of the most wildly inappropriate things ever. I bet he gets Trump to pardon every civil rights prosecution of any LEO ever.
i would imagine hasan knows, rationally, not to talk in situations like this. he did anyway because cops of all stripes are very good at making you feel like in *just this one particular situation* it makes more sense to talk a bit. don't ever give in to that impulse.
