This seems like kind of a big story and it's frustrating that we're still getting "it's time for liberals to consider the lab leak" think pieces. The two best pieces of "evidence" come directly from the Trump Administration and have completely fallen apart under scrutiny!
While the lab leak itself is effectively a conspiracy theory, it's becoming clear that there was a literal conspiracy within the first Trump administration to gin up evidence and pitch it to journalists.

Unfortunately the lab leak theory is something most Americans intrinsically *want* to believe. Blaming a Chinese communist plot to make a bioweapon, gone wrong? A much more palatable story than “pandemics are just gonna happen and it turns out we’re terrible at handling them”
Thing is the lab leak theory cannot decide if they are talking about deliberately engineered bioweapon, a natural sample from some cave, or an engineered sample made for research purposes. I’ve seen lableak propponents take all 3 positions on the same article/post
