"A Palestinian"? No, Ben. And not "assume", either.
A member of Uncommitted, a group whose premise is literally "don't vote Democrat unless they take this stance on Israel/Gaza"? I'm not going to assume they'd lie, either. But I'm also not going to take the risk that they were.
This is basic risk management. If there's even a 10% chance, you can't give that person a slot. The downside is too extreme
One could argue this same risk management would be extended to former Trump admin officials — professional liars by trade, and a much higher than 10% chance of granstanding. Yet they got three speaker slots, by a quick rough count. What makes them different, other than being Palestinian?
Their top issue is "defeat trump" so the risk of some damaging swerve on the DNC stage is effectively zero; Stephanie Grisham has no goal in being at the DNC beyond who wins this election
Btw I think you're a reasonable and good voice on this stuff. I just think this is an obviously indefensible decision from them that's going to lose them votes, very obviously.
He isn’t wrong though. Big risk with it happening. Speaker would have enormous pressure to go off script. More so than grifting former maga.
So you honestly believe there would be pressure on the speaker, a Palestinian woman, to destroy all political support for them and their cause and likely alienate the public?
What political support?
So you believe you can do a speech at the DNC without any political support what so ever?
Did she speak?
Aug 23, 2024 01:19You were literally just arguing that if she spoke at the DNC, she would be under pressure to go off script. Whereas I pointed out that it would be the exact opposite. Please try to keep up, this isn't complicated.
I was making a point that the political support would be so little that it wouldn’t be much that was being thrown away. But you missed it. Just enough to barely get on stage with an entire genocide happening to their people. Easy to be disgruntled.
Yes, enough support to get on stage at the DNC. That would not have been a minor amount of support. Its a chance to prove that you can be trusted, you are reasonable, you can be taken seriously. Something that helps when you want to enact change.
Be honest and say if they would have less pressure to embarrass the dnc than a grifting former maga?
What do you think embarrassing the DNC gets them? It won't further any of their goals. It will turn public support against them. Its actively harmful to their cause.
