- how much of the DOGE-driven destruction of the nation’s research and development capacity is because these people are AI cultists who believe that we’re on the verge of creating a sentient general intelligence?
- I truly don’t care about their motives and think it’s a waste of time to try to be understand it. What they are doing is crazy and needs to be stopped. Let’s do that first and try to explain it later.
- If there’s one thing you can count on Democrats to do, it’s to keep fighting the last war.
- This is nuts. wapo.st/3YLpWUo

View full thread100% this. I don’t know a single democrat who is talking even in private about Biden. Journalists who say that’s an accurate reflection of D discussions are making stuff up or have books about the 2024 campaign to sell.
- Actually, I stand corrected. Ro Khanna, Buttegieg, and David Axelrod (fwiw) are all quoted by name saying this stuff in today’s Post article about the book. Way to keep focus on what people actually care about guys! I’ll take Klobuchar’s “what fascism, have you seem egg prices” over this.
- I think this outrageous indictment of Ksenia Petrova may be an attempt to go after Harvard, as much as to escalate bc they fucked up with her. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
- I think I’m past the point of caring about their motives. I really just want to know if people who were treated illegally can or cannot seek and obtain relief in court.

- What if it’s programmed to steal all the books and papers we spent our lives researching and writing and to recycle it with zero attribution or traceability, which is literally what the whole idea of scholarship is built on. I don’t see how responsible, ethical use is possible from that beginning.

- That paper has great writers, but it feels like “don’t be too critical of Trump” and “find ways to cast the left as equally radical” are guiding principles there. The corruption post today from one of their reporters absolutely deserved the roasting it received.

- He was trolling. That’s why I blocked him and any mention of his name from ever appearing in my feed again. Just don’t have time for that shit, and people who have a platform like he does and think it’s some dumb game are basically the same personality type as Elon musk.
- TODAY the NYT publishes an investigation into the Trump memecoin $TRUMP and how it has turned into a extraordinary venue for foreign influence campaigns. What we are seeing is potentially corrupt attempts to change US policy by paying the Trump family money. This is no "Russian Hoax" nyti.ms/4kkv7D7

It is not corrupt to take an action that aligns with the interest of a person who gives you a gift, unless the official action was in direct response to that gift--a bribe. Terms matter. - Feel like the foreshadowing is just getting too strong here. There was the DC helicopter plane crash early, then the Newark stuff, the fighter jets, and now this—something plane-related is bound to become the major plot twist of the Trump 2 presidency.

- Hoping that RCV will help with that issue
- I'll say on this, as I have in the past, that I think most plagiarism scandals are overblown, often things that cld simply be carelessness. But the President of Harvard lost her job at least in part over what was apparently a much less serious case. So wld be wrong to brush this off.
- I see the cool kids are calling it “unattributed copying” now
- How can it possibly be true that he leads in the polls? And if part of the answer is “polling is broken” why do the broken polls always break towards the creepazoids?

- Not to sidetrack your larger point, but I know an interesting bit of history on that school: My grandfather went there during the Great Depression, and for several years they completely stopped charging tuition. Students and faculty ran it as a collective farm, basically, to stay open and to eat

- The day before the NY Mag piece went online, Fetterman lost it in a meeting with a teachers union: "Fetterman began repeating himself, shouting and questioning why “everybody is mad at me,” “why does everyone hate me, what did I ever do” and slamming his hands on a desk" apnews.com/article/john...
- Still sounds better than Schumer to me.
- Senator Adam Schiff’s hold on the execrable Ed Martin was a huge mitzvah for which history will give him credit — especially if the great Judge Boasberg ends up naming the US attorney for DC, a post that wields great power at a crucial moment in time.
- Why aren’t D senators putting holds on every. single. nomination?
- Trump says there’s a press conference tomorrow on trade deals, place your bets on what country they’re meeting with (I’m guessing India)
- All these guesses are bullshit. I can’t believe people think there’s actually going to be an announcement “tomorrow” just because he “truths” it!!!! Has no one ever heard of “infrastructure week”?
- This is a solution and one lots of people are going to. It works. It’s also pedagogically terrible. Fundamentally ableist in structure. It assesses skills that are not the relevant skills for any meaningful intellectual activity. It represses skills that are meaningful. I don’t have an answer.

- Observing the current state of trump, it occurs to me that America will only get single payer or even a public option if Dems eventually manage to elect a president with an insane rabid personality cult, who is also probably a very mean person
