Ruffles the feathers of most things Winnipeg related
- I mean, no one could’ve ever predicted Hellebuyck going from Vezina/Hart-level to “worst goalie in the playoffs”, but no one can pretend to be shocked that the areas the Jets needed to shore up are the ones costing them when they can’t rely on 37 being outstanding.
- Jets in desperation mode, so Arniel unlocks his secret weapon: a 44-5 pairing
- I get Tanev is the gutsy shot blocker but he totally abandoned the already falling apart structure leaving Granlund wide open for the hat trick
- Nino’s gotta be stronger on that dump from the blueline if he’s covering for Pionk’s aggressive pinch. The rush chance going all the way against Hellebuyck’s glove that’s been torched all playoffs was just the cherry on top for the Stars. You can see 37 make himself smaller on that replay, too
- Jets are going to have so very few odd man rush chances that you simply cannot play it so safe that you pass it right into the skates of your teammate. Just a rough look for a team desperate for chances, let alone goals
- It’s already funny reading online posts with people’s faces melting off at the mere mention of a name being tied to a cabinet position; but it’s even funnier seeing a “Minister of AI” at all, and absolutely hilarious that it’s given to the guy fired for exploiting his connections in art brokering
- Can’t find any mentions of the word “propel” in the NHL Rulebook. I would be irate if I was the Jets coaching staff and management.
- WPG's 5v5 play is a little too much of Game 1's - and considerably better matchups/defensive play from the Stars - with too many empty calorie rushes, losing possession easily in the OZ, and not converting on the PP. This is still a closely matched series but they need to get and hold a lead.
- But that’s not 49.2(ii)? They spent 8 minutes trying to find a way to justify the goal. That’s not how to interpret the rule book. That’s insanity.
- IMO Petrovic is trying to kick it to his own stick, but it goes all the way to Hellebuyck and his goalstick and in the net. Intention doesn't matter - by letter of the rulebook, it deflects in after the kick (excluding goalie's stick) and thus it should be no goal.
