- Looking forward to seeing folks outside Gilman Park (11th Ave NW & NW 53rd St) in #Ballard for #BikeEverywhereDay tomorrow morning!

- @freeourfeeds.com I sent a check from my donor-advised fund (DAF) to Development Gateway Inc, designated for Free Our Feeds, back in January. The check was just returned because it hadn’t been cashed in 90 days. Other DAF donations might also be affected.
- I sailed on the Coho ferry from Victoria BC to Port Angeles WA on Monday morning, and the boat was packed, but it looks like some sailings next month are already cancelled due to soft demand. Sad to see it. victoriabuzz.com/2025/05/lowe...
- Most of the world doesn’t get views like this on public transportation. Love it.
- Riders aboard the #Puyallup yesterday were treated to a pod of orcas putting on a show before arriving at Colman. Absolute magic. ✨
- A very WA drive: took a ferry from Victoria BC into Port Angeles, couldn’t get to the Kingston ferry terminal due to the Hood Canal floating bridge closure, took two other ferries to and from Whidbey Island, and grabbed some tater tots aboard the latter one. Home almost sweet home.

- Just discovered iOS’s hidden metric converter in any text field: typing “34 in =” and a space auto-completes to 0.864 m. Very handy for international travel!
- I don’t want a pickup truck, but this new #EV from #SlateAuto promises a $20,000 price after incentives, is shorter than a Model 3, and can be converted to a 5-seater SUV with a kit. This could be the starter electric car for everyone, or it could be vaporware. www.slate.auto/en
- Great work by @theurbanist.org and @seattleyimby.bsky.social for putting together tonight’s Future of Seattle Housing panel. Some difficult questions asked, some challenging perspectives explored. We need more open conversations as we work towards creating more housing for everyone.
- Very grateful for all the advocacy, including by @sngreenways.bsky.social, that led to this pilot. Hoping for a much calmer Pike Place experience without so many lost tourists snaking vehicles through it.

- The @seattlekraken.com might not be going to the playoffs, but their TV broadcasts have brought sarcasm and banter into the mainstream in Seattle, and that’s nearly as good
- Councilmember Saka used to work at Meta, which explains how he can talk so much like a Facebook user
- America needs more housing; it doesn’t all have to be built like the Dallas exurbs do, right? www.nytimes.com/2025/04/10/m...
- I pretended to trade cryptocurrency, getting insincere tips from a mysterious “assistant”, until no amount of generative AI fakery could convince “her” that I was following her advice. Stay vigilant out there, friends. weill.org/2025/04/09/f...
- Seattle real estate mogul Martin Selig, 88, was once listed as a billionaire. His company has been laying off people en masse, its web site is offline, and it faces over $600 million in distressed loans on its portfolio, mostly offices. Cue the tiny violin. www.bizjournals.com/seattle/news...

- Pronto Bike Share was something of a joke in Seattle, but it taught me to ride a bike in a city, and it inspired me to buy a bike of my own. Nearly 10,000 miles later, that bike still takes me all over town. Thanks, Pronto, for the encouragement.

- I pay for @mlb.com’s out of market package, and the @yesnetwork.bsky.social puts its CEO on TV for a half inning to rant about @corporate.comcast.com and its negotations about carrying YES. I really wish they had an option to show me the games I paid to watch.
- It's #OpeningDay and the @mlb.com app is already broken. I paid $160 for MLB dot TV, can't watch the @yankees.com opener (it's on @espn.com) and I can't even listen to the AM radio broadcast on the Roku or iOS apps. I hear 30 seconds of filler music, then nothing.

- I used to live a few blocks from I-5. Rubbing a wet paper towel on my windowsills came up pitch black every time. Traffic is filthy; we shouldn’t be restricting multi-unit #housing to be only near major roads.
- Three months into my #careerBreak, I’m deprogramming from work and keeping my body and mind busy as I learn new skills. So far, feeling good. weill.org/2025/03/16/d...
- A+ pun game, @mlb.com: "Continuing to excel, Sheets brings winning mindset to Padres"
- The Diamond League in #Duolingo is getting seriously intense. I had 6700 XP last week, nearly 1000 a day, and I faced relegation for being 17th of 20. Paid 2000 gems (no real money) to avoid that. I just set a PR with over 1700 XP in a day, and I’ll probably wake up in the demotion zone again.

- Reposted by Jason WeillTo preserve our humanity, I think it's important to be offline more. The truth is we can get all the news we need in one or two sittings a day, and then decide what to do about it, one day at a time. Platforms like this one can be helpful, but like everything else in life, dosage matters!

- Seattle’s tree advocates will rewrite a centenarian’s story in order to block housing. Disappointing to see yet another example of misanthropy dressed up as environmentalism.
- Final data at the precinct level are now available for King County, Washington's special election. First up for Seattle voters, a choice between #YesOn1A or #YesOn1B to fund #socialHousing. Prop. 1A won by 26 points. #seaElex #waElex #seattle #SeaElection #electionViz #dataviz
