I'm not my ancestors. Some of my ancestors were evil. I won't take credit for what they did right and reject any blame for their evil. You're not your ancestors. Some of them may have been godly. Some of them may have been victims. You're not them.

- The fact that they have official codifications of what they believe demonstrates that they do not believe the Bible to be all-sufficient. First century Christians relied on the scriptures and on the doctrines revealed thru apostles and prophets during the first century not on Creeds and Catechisms.
- Pick the greatest atrocity which a human has ever done. The person who committed that atrocity was created in God's image. The fact that people who engage in certain activities have been created in God's image does not justify what they do. God commands us all to repent of what He has condemned.

- Inspiration is "defined" by 2 Peter 1:20-21. The word translated "interpretation" is NOT referring to the one who reads but rather to the original writers. They did not write down their interpretations of revelation. They were chosen because of their willingness to allow God to speak through them.

- Although I expect that my view of inspiration differs from yours, I do believe that God used the personalities and the cultures of those with whom He worked. Amos, Hosea, Micah, and Isaiah were contemporaries. All the original apostles had grown up in a limited region but Paul in a Roman colony.

- First, I am not upset. Second, maybe you did not mean to imply that there are only two worlds when you wrote "There are two worlds within Christianity". You also wrote "there's basically no way to have bridge that divide." I believe that men wrote what God told them to write. 2 Peter 1:20-21

- It is likely possible that there are some religious groups who fit your 2nd description but if you mean it to apply to all who believe that the scriptures are of divine origin that is a gross misrepresentation. Historical, Chronological, and Circumstantial context are all vital to understanding.

- There are churches which teach that God does not communicate with us in that manner today on ANY subject. Homogenizing all religious groups is just as bad as homogenizing individuals who are descended from the same country, culture, or lineage.

- Any religion which is false does more harm than good. If God does not exist then any religion which claims God exists is false. If God exists then only that which God approves is true. Neither my belief nor my desire changes reality. I believe Jesus is the Anointed, the Son of the living God.

View full threadOne of the main reasons FW fizzled under Adobe was they focused on a least important feature. They focused on FW's ability to slice an image and create html code for reassembling. The code was NOT clean. FW shined at editing and exporting Jpgs. Multiple areas of quality of export. (Continued)
- Even though it took longer, I used to use FW for converting PSDs instead of using Adobe's Image Ready because the jpgs were smaller file sizes when exported by FW.
- "A young conservative went on to change her mind as an adult" is an extremely common life path IRL, but on here, an amazing number of people seem to assume it's unfathomable. If you think people can't interrogate their inherited beliefs, that suggests *you've* never done so

- "Bible which You read" (by which you meant me) is not the criteria upon which Jesus judges. If I were to suggest that my opinion is the criteria then I would be making the same mistake as those who centuries ago decided that they were the arbitrators of validity for the whole world.

- Your question seems to imply that John 7:24 cannot be implemented. You suggested that I am a hypocrite by quoting Matthew 7:1-5. But you appear to judge me and I would guess sometimes speaks out against things which you do not approve. Or are you never publicly critical of things you disapprove?

- What makes you think that I do not know what the Bible is? You seek to muddy the discussion by suggesting that there is confusion as to which books are legitimate and which are not. Like Jesus, I'm refusing to respond to questions which are obviously intended to be traps.

- Those who find it difficult to distinguish between the real and the false will indeed find this a difficulty. But God has told us that there are many false teachers and that Satan presents himself as if he were a minister of light.
- Just as there was a Joseph Smith, and a Mary Baker Eddy, and a Ellen G. White so also there were writers of false scriptures in ancient times. I have no problem seeing the difference between the biblical text and the "Book of Mormon". Same is true of much older books. But God is the judge not me

- I do not determine who is and who is not a Christian. I do know enough to recognize when a religious practice has no basis in the biblical text. I do know enough to be able to distinguish when someone is violating the principle contained in the larger context of 1 Corinthians 2:13.

- God caused the true scriptures. God decided what was scripture and what was not. None of us have any say in the matter. If God decided that a book which is considered "apochryphal" is scripture then it is. If God decided that a book which is considered canonical is not scripture then it is not.
- The existence of the Bible is the result of God's will. Claims that it is insufficient are a result of people not being willing to remain within God's will. God has now revealed through His divine power "all things which pertain to life and godliness. (Continued)
- No translation in any language is an inspired translation. The Bible as it was originally revealed is the source of knowing God's will. Nothing which has occurred in the last 19th centuries has amended the scriptures in any way. That includes the so-called "church councils".

- Np. You are wrong about my motives. It is my hope that I can persuade people to give up those religious practices and teachings which have been invented after the Bible was written and ask: "Where does the Bible say we may?" And abide within what was taught in the first century.

- I am not the one who determines who are real Christians only Jesus does that. I hope that I am faithful to Him but I am not justified by my own estimation. God's people do as God teaches without adding, subtracting, or substituting. But internal transformation and trust are also necessary.

- God's church is not an organization although the congregations in which Christians meet do have shepherds and deacons. Jesus adds those to His church whom He saves. No human can add anyone to His church nor can any human remove anyone from His church. His church are those who hearken to His voice
