- Reposted by Drew PowersEffectively a full repeal of the largest climate bill in history. There’s no strategy for America’s future. We all get sicker and pay more in energy bills and suffer climate disasters, while some rich folks pay less in taxes. That’s it. Disgraceful.
- The House Republican's budget bill is starting to drop. It extends trillions in tax cuts for the wealthy while effectively crippling US manufacturing & energy industries and raising energy costs. It's effectively full repeal of the IRA. Here's tax portion waysandmeans.house.gov/wp-content/u... 🔌💡

- holy shit. foundation451.org, a nonprofit dedicated to getting banned/challenged books back in student hands in the state of FL, had to relocate to MN after the 6th (!) DoE investigation into the org
- putzing around with porting a js library to rust, and I’m actually amazed how well copilot does with a rough first pass. the code isn’t _usable_ per se, and all those linkedin ceos are still off their rocker. but it sure does give a really good jumpstart
- “this is an app downloaded from the internet. are you sure you want to open it?” Oh! Oh my god no! I could have sworn I installed this via CD-ROM thank you macos

- A US citizen with a learning disability who has just suffered a medical emergency asks a CBP officer for directions outside the emergency room. He ends up detained in an icebox for ten days and has the assistant secretary of DHS lying about him to the public at large. popular.info/p/us-citizen...

- Reposted by Drew Powers“I think the pattern in organized labor is generally that when rank-and-file workers lead, then risk-averse official union leaders tend to eventually follow.“ Whether you’re a federal worker or not, this discussion between @bcmerchant.bsky.social and @ericblanc.bsky.social is worth your time.
- Elon's influence in Trumpworld may be waning, but the DOGE wrecking ball is still going full speed. Yet this *is* a good window for federal workers to organize to stop it. Labor studies prof @ericblanc.bsky.social has ideas, drawn from past successful labor movements, for how they might do so:

- a lot of people ask me “I want to contribute to open source I just don’t know where to start” well TODAY’S YOUR LUCKY DAY because here is a list of all the things I NEED that no one has built yet (or no one has built well)
- on a tangent, the AI summaries are So Bad. I had a friend come over that couldn’t get my nailgun to work. it’s a PoS for sure but it works. he said he googled what nails it takes, but later I found he bought the wrong size. he’s an aerospace engineer. I’m like 70% sure an AI summary did him dirty
- just as a thought experiment: we all know Google search is broken. but could this be solved by open source? it would definitely test the limits of benevolence on the platforms that donate resources to OSS. but technically how could it work?
