- NEW— I've confirmed DOGE has entered the Export-Import Bank (EXIM), an independent federal agency of the executive branch. EXIM is the US export credit agency and helps American companies secure favorable interest rates worldwide. Nate Cavanaugh and Donald Park have emails set up and office space.

- Outlets*
- I think what Tim Snyder was saying was about the importance of outlets like yours. Right wing fanatics have spent 40 years buying media space to get their message out. To the point where our candidates cant get a msg to half the public at all. Till that changes we are a bit stuck.

- No he didnt, Rupert Murdoch & NBC did, and a thousand vitamin hocking right wing grifters. He is saying unless there is an investment in media spaces the candidates wont matter.
- I'm 100% in favor of flunking students who use AI to complete assignments, which is also known as cheating. More importantly, they're cheating themselves. Learn the content, do the work, and earn the grade. If they fail the course, then they fail.
- Why are we even questioning this? An Education™ has become a series of boxes to check, a formality to access employment, rather than the celebration of the access to the tools needed to live a happy a life in constant pursuit of improvement of oneself
- That isn't true. But ok.
- The difference is calculators are tools to expedite arriving at facts (the results of an equation), the same way that a keyword search in a library database produces facts (books available on that topic). But chatGPT supplants the unique and subjective skill of human communication *about* facts.
- Exactly, kids dont get to use calculators till theyve proven mastery of its basic functions. AI prevents that mastery from happening at all. But tbh this all started a few years earlier w/heavy use of Chegg
- Ok well ai invents things that are not real sources that exist at all, bad search never did that.
- At least the bad search items that did exist USED to exist someone just stopped keeping the site up.

- Oh!
- Boys and young men are struggling — in their educational achievement, mental health and transitions to adulthood — even as their female peers surge ahead. Here's what data shows.

- I agree, i just think with boys it gets made more of an either or, w/ parents are invested in sports success, which for most ppl will end when they grad, than the grades. I think sports id a "parent hobby/identity/manliness" issue, they intend them to move out and career is not their problem.
- Thinking you’re going to get an apology and remorse from the people who voted for this is like thinking your narcissistic parent is going to apologize for your childhood. These people think not apologizing or acknowledging regret is a virtue. And additionally, a form of image control.
- [Not loaded yet]
- I feel this is both true and...like a lot of ppl am processing it in a situation where 'these people who voted for this, narcissists, and my parents' are the all the same people.

- [Not loaded yet]
- Considering how few spots most sports teams offer at the school level, I'd say we sure don't offer it to everyone anyhow. But does it have to do with educational success? Certainly not directly w/academic success. It's about trying to get limited scholarship $...while diverting from study time.
- The North Carolina State Board of Elections has formally certified Democrat Allison Riggs as the winner of a state Supreme Court. Riggs was sworn-in at a brief ceremony in Raleigh. "We won this election more than six months ago, but it was fewer than seven days ago that this race finally ended."

- I'm jumping through what i witnessed as a parent of boys who were very successful in education. And what was diff in our house vs others. These dads emotionally/educationally stunt these boys, then blame women/girls' for not having those same bad role models.
- [Not loaded yet]
- I agree, i think this is purely cultural disdain by boys (caused by fellow men) for appearing serious about school. Too much focus on sports? Too much "not manly if not trade job" crap coming from ppl like the Republican party? Idk but i'm pretty sure women/girls more then anyone want it stopped.
- Here's another q - America UNIQUELY puts sports in the center of our schools. Sounds like that's an enormous failure! Whatever it is these kids are learning in sports doesn't seem to be serving them well...why tf are we paying so much for it, and are these coaches decreasing focus on education?
- [Not loaded yet]
- That's ridiculous - having TWO heads of household in your family worth of income is of course far better than one. Why tf would women getting a place in the economy take away from you unless you have serious issues w/women and consider them inferior/less deserving?
- Yes the manosphere is harmful copium, but the success of those voices are a reinforcing symptom, not the root cause, of despair.
- Then the root cause is what, their attraction to self-pity? Is it bc their dads now politically consider book/computer work beneath them and want them out rough-housing in a sport, then getting a trade job?
- no. Data shows that the structural advantage created to advance women has compounded enough that now struggling males simply don't have access to any resources as they are all meant for females. Support groups, incentives... There's nothing for boys.
- That is utter bullshit. There are clubs for every academic endeavor. It is just not culturally popular among the adult men in their lives for them to spend time in a book instead of in a sport.
- May their role models are pieces of shit, including dads and grandpas who think schoolwork is for soft people & only trade jobs are for "real men?
