- I'm here at City Hall for the MEGATOWERS MEGAHEARING! I'll only be lightly liveskeeting this one since I'm here to give my comments in person. But with over 100 registered speakers this will likely go for a Day 2 next week. I've got something a bit different planned for my comments, I'm #15 😜

- Ben of Ben & Jerry’s *arrested* after confronting RFK Jr. & Congress: "They need to let food into Gaza. They need to let food to starving kids! Congress is paying to bomb poor kids in Gaza, and paying for it by kicking poor kids off Medicaid in the US!"

- BIG NEWS: I’m very honoured to announce that I’ve been collaborating with the City of Paris under Mayor @annehidalgo.bsky.social’s leadership to create a unique exhibition opening this summer at Paris City Hall on BOLD URBAN TRANSFORMATION, profiling cities around the world. Stay tuned for details!

- “How we build matters,” says Efficiency Canada. The organization calculates the most effective way to minimize additional carbon pollution comes from adopting the most ambitious tier of Canada’s building codes (the net-zero energy ready standard). www.nationalobserver.com/2025/05/09/o...

- There is valid criticism of the Vancouver City Council from 2008 to 2018, but it often lacks perspective on the overall context of a left-of-centre City Council w/ a Conservative-run fed & prov government, & regional counterparts who never carried their weight in social housing for the region.
- A lot of the discussion about Vancouver's housing crisis is shortsighted. The primary cause of today's crisis is the collapse in housing production in the 1970s. Gregor was just the one holding the hand grenade when the accumulated shortage reached catastrophic proportions.
- And, while Robertson and Vision didn't do nearly enough, they did more to challenge the institutional NIMBYism that got us into this mess than anyone before. Every mayor from the 70s through to him deserves more blame than he does for the housing crisis.

- Planned as the “world’s first five-minute city” where everything you need is within a 400m walk … this is the new (former industrial) Nordhavn district in Copenhagen.

- Pulling into Bozeman, MT past spring for an indigenous celebration, I was positively awe-struck by their commitment to multi-unit housing and a walkable retail district. The YIMBY wonderland defied my imagination of open country. The densest part can put some outer-ring LA suburbs to shame!

- I can't believe we have a Pope from Illinois. People from Chicago usually hate the Cardinals.
- Cybertrucks are piling up -- apparently no one wants to buy them -- but they can't stop making them, b/c shutting the factory down is too expensive. Great work all around.
- Congratulations to Pope Leo XIV. His first address was about peace, acceptance and love. It’s a powerful message of hope that I know will resonate around the world.

- It was a HUGE honour to be on the show! I reference the Missing Middle Initiative's work all over my videos so I felt a bit sheepish trying to explain development fees to the folks who basically wrote the book (blog?) on this issue.
- For the full Missing Middle 30-minute interview, which I highly recommend, especially if you're interested in storytelling, here's the link ( @uytaelee, @aboutherevideos, @MikePMoffatt, @SabrinaMaddeaux). youtu.be/6ox4O7WrhYI...
- The incredibly talented @uytaelee of @aboutherevideos joined @MikePMoffatt and @SabrinaMaddeaux on the Missing Middle podcast this week to discuss transforming the deeply wonky and sometimes boring topic of housing into an entertaining story.
