- Zero kids should die of measles. Zero. Any number higher than zero is entirely the fault of these unhinged monsters.
- STOCKHOLM — “The Stockholm City Council has rejected the U.S. Embassy’s demands that it comply with the Trump administration’s rollback of diversity, equity and inclusion policies.” Wow. Imagine thinking you could demand compliance to your twisted fascist garbage from a sovereign nation.
- We too often assume #Dutch cities didn’t make huge mistakes like this, but for 40 years there was an 11-lane motorway cutting right thru #Utrecht’s city centre. Now they’ve torn it out to bring back the water and public life. Via @bicycledutch.bsky.social bicycledutch.wordpress.com/2016/01/05/m...
- The bank of the Seine in Paris used to be space for cars. Now for several years it’s been a special place for people in a city making more & more of them. All it took was leadership. - “Canada needs a national architecture policy,” writes @toondreessen.bsky.social in the Globe & Mail. He makes a strong case, citing past Canadian successes and inspiration from nations around the world. #CanadaStrong
- “In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.” It costs a lot less to house people.
- Attention ITALY! I just agreed for keynote a great city-building event in Turin/Torino Italy in October — stay tuned for more information soon. - Reposted by Brent ToderianI believe the plot of a certain film was for the villain to destroy USA's most valuable asset. The aim: increasing the value of it that the villain controlled, rendering USA non-functional, triggering global financial meltdown, & empowering China. Also an obsession with golden everything there too.
- Reposted by Brent ToderianLet’s hope so because so many leaders have not taken up that challenge to humanity.
- “In Carney we now have the world leader who knows more than any of his peers about climate change. And who knows roughly 20x as much about climate and energy economics as anyone else in power. He may turn out to be a truly crucial figure in the fight to turn the climate tide.” @nationalobserver.com
