Our sassafras grove opened its flowers today! Here's one, viewed under a 10x hand lens. It's a female flower (the entire grove is female, as it all grew from a single 100+ year old tree). Note the 6 staminoids around the pistil. Whole thing is barely 1/4 inch wide, very cute. 🌱 #nativeplants
