- As far as I can tell it was at this moment that @ctrlspice.bsky.social decided we absolutely needed a second cat
- “The real problem is people sometimes using software that I don’t personally own and monetize”
- Reposted by Jeremy MorrellHey folks, quick/odd request.. if you *recently* read "Observability Engineering" and are up for a quick 15 min phone chat, within the next 6 hr, drop me a DM? I am refactoring the chapter list (due @ noon Friday) and could use some fresh eyes on chapters to add/drop for 2nd edition. 🙏🥰 Thanks!
- This succinctly states the issues I have with LLMs Are they useful? Yeah! At times, in some situations, thoughtfully applied Do I think that counterbalances the harm they are already doing broadly? Not even close

- Tired of ChatGPT’s overconfidence, Microsoft somehow managed to give an LLM anxiety
- Published some notes on Microsoft's phi4-reasoning model, an 11GB download (via Ollama) which may well overthink things... it produced 56 sentences of reasoning output in response to my prompt of "hi" simonwillison.net/2025/May/6/p...
- Reposted by Jeremy MorrellAppreciate the people crunching numbers on this. The outrage over personal LLM energy usage seems overblown. Especially for the number of queries most of us run (<1000 / month?) Picking any other climate soap box is a better use of outrage: driving cars, eating meat, green energy providers, etc.
- Stop stressing about the energy and carbon footprint of ChatGPT. It’s not a big deal www.sustainabilitybynumbers.com/p/carbon-foo...
- The 8 year old spontaneously quoted Eddie Izzard in conversation, and I’ve never been more proud 🥲
- I know illustrations and images improve blog posts, and all the LLM tools are like *right there* but when I end up on a blog post with an obvious AI slop image as a header, I immediately distrust the source and leave

- The kitten is at the vet today, and I miss my little cuddle partner. We’ve had him one week, and the house now feels wrong when he’s not here 😢
- What is the LD50 of MCP hype? I might be close

- Now this is an AI criticism that I can endorse We have this weird new primitive that is useful but comes with some weird constraints, but the industry seems focused on how it can use it to break worker power over everything else
- Anthropic announced support for remote MCP in claude.ai which means there’s no more needing to fuss with JSON or running your own servers locally. This should increase the addressable market for MCP by orders of magnitude www.anthropic.com/news/integra...
- Whoa! Great move Webflow 👏 👏
- 🥳 It's an exciting day! 🥳 Thanks to Webflow GSAP is now 100% FREE - including ALL of the bonus plugins like SplitText, MorphSVG, and all the others that were exclusively available to Club GSAP members. We can't wait to see what you make! gsap.com/blog/3-13
- Clair Obscur is many fine things (exceptional even! give it all the awards!) but wow is it frustrating when it’s trying to be a platformer
- “LLMs are not reliable” Neither are humans, and we build systems around fallible humans to more reliably get the results we want: see routines and checklists for pilots and surgeons, construction inspection, accounting systems, audits, etc

- This is far and away the best distillation of what I feel is going on with AI hype that I have read
- A bunch of tech CEOs are talking about being “AI-first”, the latest in a series of CEO fads like “return to office”, “founder mode” and “pivot to full fascism”. This one’s weird, though, because it only makes sense if… none of their workers are great at their jobs. anildash.com/2025/04/19/a...
