- So, you might be wondering: does it matter if Covid shots are recommended? Yes, yes it does. 1. Insurance won't cover them if they're not recommended. That's a HUGE challenge for a lot of people. 2. If more people skip the shots, manufacturers will make fewer doses, making them harder to find.

- I would add that one of the arguments -- there's widespread immunity already -- makes no sense. Fetuses in utero and newborns have no immunity. Newborns are also the most at risk age group among kids, which maternal vaccination has helped with.

- political journalists obsess over the public’s lack of trust in our profession but strangely see that as downstream of things like “we didn’t talk enough about how biden was old” and not “many of us appear to be indifferent to a nihilistic attack on the constitution”
- Seems to me that if there’s a senile guy doing nothing in particular the usual way and a senile guy setting everything on fire, the fire guy is the one who should be the focus of media inquiry

- Today's newsletter is about yesterday's ordeal with Grok talking about "white genocide" www.readtpa.com/p/the-grok-w...
- Thrilled to learn from DOJ's argument that the 14th Amendment applied to the "children of former slaves, not illegal immigrants, who didn't exist as a class yet" that modern firearms are not protected by the Second Amendment!

View full threadKagan is getting at one of my main problems which is if one thinks the executive order is clearly unconstitutional, what can actually be done about it in a timely fashion DOJ's answers are, let's say, lacking, and for a second even Barrett was like...are you for real
- after Kagan said 'an untold number people who should be citizens according to all the law the court has ever made wouldnt be treated as such for years,' Roberts was all 'well we can be faster than that, we did the tiktok case in a month' bitch and you dragged out Trump immunity for fiftyleven years
- Roberts jumping in to save DOJ bc Kagan been on his ass for like 5 minutes straight
- Amazing news for those of us who struggle to tell some of the justices' voices apart: AP's youtube stream actually says who is speaking lol www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzn0...

- you want to win voters trust? choose something, anything at all, to care about more than polls and fight like hell for it.
- Why. What is this sentence. You are born in the U.S. and governed by the U.S., you are a citizen. That is birthright citizenship.
- What I don’t get is Democrats who see how the GOP non-handled the stink of George W. Bush from 2009-16 and feel like anything other than completely tearing down Biden is going to work. But maybe we’re destined to repeat history.

- there were so many magazines u would go to the dentist office and be irritated that your one favorite magazine was not there or was six months out of date even though the magazine rack was full of magazines
- here is a very self-serving question for y’all: if i were to put out a curated book of my work from the past half decade on democracy and constitutional reform in the US — with plenty of new material as well — would you find that worthwhile?

- No. This was challenged in state court, which means the Montana Supreme court is the highest authority. Regardless of what happens in Skirmetti, Montana's courts have spoken—gender-affirming care is health care. And the government has no right to insert itself between a trans person & their doctor.

- Folks are doing a lot of “she was told” and I want to gently note that… apparently the beating happened when she tried to leave “Just leave him “ isn’t the advice we think
- i think it's worth looking at a lot of the examples we see in pieces like these and noting that the vast majority of the cases - students and faculty - are coming from the "professional" wings of universities. courses in business, CS, (certain sectors of) comm, etc.
- Now it's the professors using ChatGPT. Students aren't happy about it. I talked to professors. I talked to students. I read the scathing reviews on Rate My Professors. Here you go: www.nytimes.com/2025/05/14/t...

- Voters DO like moderation. It makes them feel reasonable. What we need is the media to stop framing common sense progressive policy as radical left wing policy.

- I was glad to see the NYT taking this seriously enough to write a story about it. But then I read it, and there's not one iota of pushback, or critical context, not even a "critics say". Pure stenography. Absolutely shameful for something this outrageous. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/09/u...
