The Fig Economy
Father of lots, earnest as shit, 14th amendment truther. He/him.
- Reposted by The Fig EconomyYes, I'm pissed about the jumbo jet too. But this is actually the most important story today.
- This is certainly a possibility, but I don’t know that I’d explain anti-incumbency driving results more than anything else as locked in partisanship; and I guess I think Trump is breaking things so hard and so fast that I don’t think partisanship will be able to completely obscure.
- Jake Tapper: thing has wheels and he’s sitting on it thus it is a wheelchair I rest my case.
- If I ever find myself taking to Bluesky to defend my billionaire-pal boss with a gamergate-tinged version of an argument that got old when Jon Stewart started doing it a quarter century ago, please feel free to tell me how badly I’m embarrassing myself.
- Good post, good post, but just one suggested edit. Instead of “raises substantial ethical issues,” consider something more accurate like “IS THE MOST OPENLY CORRUPT THING A US PRESIDENT HAS DONE IN ALL OF AMERICAN HISTORY.”
- This looks like out and out corruption, but consider that the Supreme Court has held that it’s only a bribe if both parties sign a contract saying “this is a bribe” and take a picture holding it and today’s newspaper and a notary affirms they took the picture. Otherwise it’s just gifts from pals.
- mRNA vaccines are a genuine bona fide miracle. I’ve never quite seen a case like this where so many turned so hard against something that was so obviously so good.
- Lots of reasons for non-Catholics to be opposed to a pope, but like, the leader of a faith talking about how faith is important is not a personal slam at a humanist group in the UK in the same way that “I hate you JD Vance” is a personal slam at JD Vance.
- Has there ever been anybody besides JD Vance to be specifically repudiated by two popes inside of six years of converting to Catholicism?
- Pretty fucked up that his answer to every question is “I dunno, that’s some other guy’s job, I just do what I’m told.”
