- Speaker Mike Johnson: "The reason many people refer to the Bidens as the 'Biden crime family' is because they were doing all this stuff behind curtains...Whatever President Trump is doing is out in the open. They're not trying to conceal anything...Trump has had nothing to hide."

- I can’t shake the feeling he was auditioning for a post in the Trump cabinet.
- (1/X) It is simply a fact that one of the central conceits of this account—that establishment media failed to convey the dangers of a second Trump presidency—has been proved correct. In particular, they completely ignored the fact that Trump has an easily diagnosed personality disorder....

View full thread(7/X) They certainly had lots of time to discuss Biden's cognitive state. Bill Clinton was subjected to endless hours of armchair psychology. Why not Trump? His case is particularly easy to understand.
- Don’t discount fear as a factor. The MSM has been terrified of the RW since before Trump. They know the Dems will complain but not do anything, but the RW constantly attacks, sues and tries to use government to shut them down.

- Ah, but that's just it: the oligarchs don't want more innovation. They want the current wealth & power structure to be frozen in place for as long as possible, and they think that removing a building's structural support is the best way to preserve your spot on the top floor.
- Thinking about devastating cuts to NSF: US gov-funded science has been the engine upon which most of the tech wealth was generated. But the oligarchs (currently hoarding much of that $) think it’s their own brilliance & not the accident of standing close to the scientific engine that made them rich.
- They don’t think they need other people in the future. AI & robotics will proceed at a pace that, as the rabble slowly die out, their functions will be replaced by “well-controlled” robots. No long term need for education or health care for the masses. They’ll be irrelevant soon, as will democracy

- In Citizens United SCOTUS pretty much said without a smoking gun (or written evidence, eg “For this bribe of $2 billion I will reduce the UAE tariffs”) you can’t tell if it’s a bribe or coincidence. So it can’t be prosecuted.
- Once again, the main goal of Trump's tariffs is soliciting bribery. That is why all who go looking for a coherent (if misguided) economic strategy that aims to benefit the country come away confused. Make manufacturing boom? Stop fentanyl? Generate revenue to replace income tax? Nope. Corruption.

- I think T’s win in ‘16 caught them unprepared. Since then, they’ve created Project 2025. They’re prepared and ready to pull the trigger (metaphorically (?) speaking). Whether they still fear the crazies is an open question.
- I wouldn’t be surprised if Vance spearheads a 25th vote once TFG becomes inconvenient to the Heritage Mafia. The Koch Network has been planning this for nearly 50 years & they’re so close they’re not about to let a fat, ignorant, stupid egomaniac stop them.
- Ironically, MAGAdom may be the only force that can unify to fight them. (The Democratic Party is far too fractious to unify as an effective force in the time we need.) If Koch, et al., treat TFG too harshly, the crazies might just turn on them.
