- If we’re attending a work event and lunch is provided to everyone - state and non-state employees alike - then we’re allowed to eat it as long as we’re sure it’s under $50. And I’m not complaining. This is as it should be.

- I’m work in state government and we are not allowed to accept gifts of any kind. If a constituent were to send me flowers, my ethics office would choose a charity to donate them to and have me write to the person to let them know.
- I’m a state employee. If a member of the public were to send flowers as thanks for something I did to help them, I would have to write them a note explaining that I cannot accept gifts and that my ethics office will choose a donation recipient for that bouquet. Which is as it should be, btw.
