- Yeah, but I bet you've never appreciated 3 straight hours of sleep as much as you do now.
- We took shifts holding our oldest for the first 6 months. I would hold her until 2am, feed her, and hand her off to my wife until we all got up at 5. But it gets better, they go to sleep on their own when they get a little older.

- It’s art. The best we have to offer. A reason why AI will not replace us.
- Best songs to use in a movie to show that it's the late '90s 5. How Bizarre - OMC 4. Fly - Sugar Ray 3. Hypnotize - Notorious BIG 2. Let Forever Be - The Chemical Brothers 1. Praise You - Fatboy Slim
- Might be too niche, but what about "Hell" by the Squirrel Nut Zippers? Or maybe some swing revival thing that I don't care to think about?

- Any thoughts on a possible hidden correlation with thoughts on the effectiveness of government? I.e. the left more likely assumes the government can solve problems and therefore more willing to accept suggestion?

View full threadI’ve had the same thought about The Doors. But what if you go back a bit further to Elvis? Biggest thing in the world through the 70s, but when was the last time you heard an Elvis song?
- Or, when you hear “80s music”, it doesn’t include Michael Jackson.

- Every year on Feb 2, I consider how nice it would be to live in a place where six more weeks of winter didn't sound like an impossibly early spring.

- Our institutions have worked so well for so long, that people assume a false baseline. Even the "government is broken" folks are talking about lines that are too long at the DMV, not about losing their bank deposits or drinking adulterated milk.

- Cooking has become a lifestyle or a hobby, so there is a lot of pressure to make meals that have many specific ingredients that some chef on the food channel was cooking. My mom would brown some hamburger and open a can.

- Thing is, the fog people sit on all the resources the blueskys (no pun intended) need. So, the millionaire militia ruling class needs convince them that it is in their best interest to be ruled and transfer it.
