- The cold adolescent Nietzschean vision of superheroes, power as pornography, could not die fast enough, and be buried deep enough.
- important tribute from adam sandler to morris, the alligator from happy gilmore who just passed away at 80+ years old. rip.

- Gen X confirmed to be the worst generation in human history. Musk, Vought, David Cross.
- Surprise, surprise! Russell Vought, the chief architect of Project 2025, has been chosen to run DOGE. Funny that it was difficult to find a mainstream news link to this story. It should be quite obvious who is running the show now. LINK: timesofindia.indiatimes.com/world/us/who...
- THIS david cross, no way!
- Love all the technology making our lives better
- Under the current constitution, the Supreme Court and Congress are supposed to be responsible for checking the power of a president. Both institutions have failed to do so. Perhaps it’s worth considering if it’s not merely the individuals who have failed to prevent tyranny, but the system itself.
- On the one hand, the leaders of the Supreme Court and both parties in Congress have abdicated their constitutional responsibility to stop tyranny. On the other hand, our system of checks and balances is woefully outdated and does not channel the majority, or limit an authoritarian minority.
- There is much to commend this article, but this kind of nonsense needs to be put to rest. “For the almost 250 years since the founding of this nation, America has been the beacon of freedom to the world because of its democracy and rule of law.”

- i dunno man "dems need to move to the center on cultural issues" has always just seen to me like a way to make sure there's no air to talk about other possible moves like shifting the party from the right back toward the center on issues like campaign finance reform
- The best thing about Joe Pantoliano is that he's a great actor. The second-best thing is that periodically, I get to use the phrase "Joey Pants" in something I'm writing. (Or, if I'm feeling fancier, "Joseph Slacks.")
- the second photo is sending me lol
- i am decease
- ever think about how maybe we're actually all dead and this is hell and that's why we're doomed to keep having Pete Rose discourse forever?
- Really amazing we have to tolerate “what do you expect [Dem President] to do” refrains when Trump can fire off random thoughts and that will get Pete Rose unbanned from the hall of fame
- i think about this anytime i see james carville mentioned

- It is amazing to me that Dems are pressured to water down their messaging in order to avoid alienating 'centrists,' but Republicans can round up and deport sobbing children without fear of alienating 'centrists.' Says a lot about what we mean when we say 'centrists'
- my kingdom for anyone on the “dems should take culturally moderate positions” to explain what this actually means in practice? www.thebulwark.com/p/hard-calls...
- You can't have a commissioner of baseball who doesn't understand that Pete Rose's ineligibility for breaking Rule 21 (d) is the game's firewall against other players breaking Rule 21 (d). (1/x)

- Rob Manfred can talk all he wants about the illogic in keeping dead people banned but he never would've done this if Donald Trump hadn't inserted himself into this. He did it specifically to please Trump and/or in an effort to head off Trump fucking with Major League Baseball.
- True. Which means the next step for Trump and Rose dead-enders is to try to change that process. I bet they will try and I would not bet on Manfred and/or Jane Forbes Clark holding firm on that. There will be a "special election" or criminals and gamblers, just you watch. bsky.app/profile/real...
- Anyway: if you cave to Trump, he demands more of you. We've seen this over and over. Good going, Rob Manfred. You just appointed Donald Trump Shadow Commissioner of Baseball.

- This is good but it's a reminder Murphy and every other senator could be doing this on *everything* that otherwise goes through on unanimous consent, and they refuse to do that.
