- Giving California cities authority over land use is like giving Southern counties control over voting.
- Not trying to "umm akshully" this joke, but immigration was entirely "Whites Only" until 1965. If you're not White and your family are immigrants, thank the Civil Rights movement!
- American political institutions cease to function when there are high levels of partisan polarization. Luckily the Founders thought of that and created mechanisms to address it, such as a civil war or letting half the nation be run as an authoritarian apartheid state.
- "Masked security forces captured an opposition leader in the coastal province of New Jersey as regime officials continue their months-long crack-down against pro-democracy elements in the embattled United States. The arrest comes as the regime issued calls for summary detentions without trial."
- If habeas corpus is suspended, states should secede.
- Academic social science buddies: If you had about $12,000 you needed to spend on survey research before July 1, would you bank it at Lucid, which has a lower quality respondents but charges ~$1.50/complete, or one of the better vendors that charge ~$4.50/complete?
- I think a lot of anger at outlets like the NYT is misplaced since 99% of their readers vote Democrat and GOP voters live in a hermetically sealed media ecosystem anyhow. Democrats barely make it onto Fox News and Jasmine Crockett isn't getting asked to be on "The 400 lbs Aryan Podcast" or whatever.
- San Francisco has a GDP of $263.1 billion--about equal to Greece while being only about 1/10th of its population. Meanwhile, the county immediately adjacent has the same population trend as Toledo, Ohio. Until Blue States can stop their addiction to being utter losers, Trumpism will keep winning.
