Of course it's not like a Cuomo/Mamdani run off would be any good.
It's because our version of RCV is not for a general election, it's for primaries only. We kept the bad general elections. We should have gone non-partisan and had RCV for a prelim field election + a top-two runoff in the general.
NYC's Republican Party is deeply unpopular and geographically constrained. Having partisan elections here is dumb. We never even really had partisan elections in the first place, our historically interesting elections were full of serious minor parties + fusion voting
