It's very possible that RCV is just a huge benefit to crooked moderates, who don't get the added scrutiny of a 1-on-1 runoff that existed in the old system.
If you take out the ranked choice component, Cuomo's support dips to 37%, Mamdani's to 18% and Adrienne Adams' to 9%.
A significant 17% still consider themselves undecided, per the poll.
Don't understand why they got rid of the run off. RCV makes sense to get to the final two.
Of course it's not like a Cuomo/Mamdani run off would be any good.
It's because our version of RCV is not for a general election, it's for primaries only. We kept the bad general elections. We should have gone non-partisan and had RCV for a prelim field election + a top-two runoff in the general.
