Bring on the Cats
A Kansas State Blog- Carrying the Banner High - now with 100% more cloudless atmosphere
- Good catch.
- K-State has previously had women qualify individually for the national championship, and today Carla Bernat WON the Lexington Regional. Turns out she'd be going anyway, though, because... ...for the first time in school history the TEAM has qualified for nationals, finishing third at Lexington.
- All three potential Wildcat draftees are off the board now. Of course, surprises could happen, but any further K-State paydays are probably coming post-draft.
- And because most of us still care: With the ninth pick in the sixth round (185 overall), Will Howard goes to Pittsburgh.
- With the 14th pick in the 5th round, 141st overall, the Indianapolis Colts selected K-State running back DJ Giddens. Nine picks later, San Francisco drafted safety Marques Sigle.
- With the 20th pick in the third round, #84 overall, Tampa Bay selects K-State CB Jacob Parrish.
- K-State is leading the Big 12 in donations so far in this year's #Charitibundi Bowl, but that's no excuse to step off the gas. Michigan's at $54K, after all!
- #CharitibundiBowl Day 2 conference leaderboards, anyone? Current as of 6:25 p.m. ET: AAC, ACC, Big 12, and Big Ten! Even the score at EDSBSCharityBowl.com
- Reposted by Bring on the Cats💥🥲 also too, vintage treats in here for those who’ve been donating with us forever: we have included some classic rivalries from previous bowls …
- Reposted by Bring on the CatsGot all that? You ready? Go play. 😎 moneycannon.org
- Reposted by Bring on the CatsIt is so weird to me that the vagaries of time and injury have left us with Serena Sundell ON this list and Ayoka Lee NOT.
- Paige Bueckers may be taking her talents to the WNBA, but plenty of star power elected to return to school. So who follows the UConn star in the upcoming draft? dlvr.it/TK3V80
- (5) K-State falls 67-61 to (1) USC in the Sweet Sixteen, bringing an end to the season and Ayoka Lee's Wildcat career. Lee went out with a double-double (12 pts 10 reb), and Selena Sundell had 22 along with 10 from Jaelyn Glenn, but it wasn't enough.
- And so, after months of drifting aimlessly, the dirigible crashed to earth.
- Okay, so I'm really late here, but Luke wasn't. Baylor tomorrow.
- Reposted by Bring on the CatsColeman Hawkins as conf 3rd Team, while David N'Guessan gets HM, is horseshit. DNG led the team in PPG, PPM, RPG, RPM. DNG led the *conference* in FG%, and was top-10 in RPG. DNG had a better FT% than Hawkins. FREE THROWS! Hawkins shot the 3 only 2.5% better. *Swap them.* @botc.bsky.social
- K-State up 12-1 over William & Mary after 3. Max Martin, batting cleanup, jacked a granny in the first and then a 3-run HR in the 2nd. He got an 8th RBI in the 3rd on a bases loaded walk.
- And yet another listless regular season lurches to a close.
- Reposted by Bring on the CatsAn unfortunate Senior Day send-off for David N’Guessan. He was rarely the best player on the floor before this season, and he played his ass off this year. Tallied 19 and 7 in his last game in MHK, going 8-10 from the field. 👏👏👏 @botc.bsky.social #kstatembb
- K-State falls to the Cyclones on Senior Day, 73-57. David N'Guessan had 19 in his Bramlage finale; Dug McDaniel added 14. Cats finish the regular season 15-16 (9-11), and will be the 11 seed if Utah wins today, the 10 if Utah loses and WVU wins, or the 9 if both lose.
- Serena Sundell poured in 21 as #20 K-State won the game they shouldn't even have had to play in an 80-65 cruise past 13th-seeded UCF. Zyanna Walker added 13 and Jaelyn Glenn 11. Tomorrow morning at 11, the Cats take on #16 West Virginia, the 4 seed.
- With tonight's win, a win on Saturday combined with a KU loss to Arizona could somehow vault K-State all the way to the 7 seed in the Big 12 tournament. Go figure. Anyway, Luke's recap:
- We had dueling basketball today, and as has been so often the case this season that means we have good news and bad news. The bad: #14 K-State loses its season finale, an 85-63 whipping by Iowa State at Hilton. 17 from Temira Pointdexter led the way, with Serena Sundell adding 11.
- Reposted by Bring on the CatsK-State came THIS close to winning this one in the bottom of the ninth, too. Seth Dardar doubled with two outs and Dee Kennedy on first; an absolutely perfect relay throw to the plate got Kennedy by a hair.
- A week after a weekend in which K-State knocked off the #4, #24, and #25 teams on consecutive days, they ran into the #2 team in the nation... ...and took it to extras before falling to LSU. Hell of a baseball game.
- The Wildcat slide continues in a 80-76 loss at Central Florida. 22 for Max Jones, 12 for CJ Jones, 11 for Brendan Hausen, and 10 for Dug McDaniel, who just missed a double-double with 9 assists. K-State (13-15, 7-10) is back home Sunday to face Colorado.
- With Ayoka Lee still sidelined as a precaution, #14 K-State (25-5, 13-4) falls at home to #17 Baylor 79-62. 20 points for Serena Sundell, 16 for Kennedy Taylor. The regular season title is now out of reach. Cats finish next Sunday at Iowa State, and a win will now be needed to get the double bye.
- Reposted by Bring on the CatsK-State's weekend at Globe Life Field after starting 1-4 on the season: beat #4 Arkansas 3-2 beat #25 Michigan 5-1 beat #24 TCU 10-2
- We threatened you, and now we're following through
- Reposted by Bring on the CatsYou could make an argument for this loss at home to ASU to be the eggiest of the eggs this squad has laid all season. For all the goodwill Tang and Co earned back during that six game winning streak, they’ve all but eviscerated it in the course of three games. @botc.bsky.social #KStateMBB
- Without David N'Guessan, K-State would've lost this game 66-34 and probably even worse because he had 13 rebounds too
- recap soon, and the game's not over yet, but the short version is
- A few weeks ago, K-State destroyed KU in Lawrence by 27. Today, they won by 30 at Bramlage, 90-60. Five Cats in double figures: Taryn SIdes 15, Temira Pointdexter 14, Zyanna Walker and Gisela Sanchez 12 each, and Kennedy Taylor 10. Serena Sundell just missed with 9 -- but had *15* assists.
- #12 K-State falls on the road at #17 West Virginia 70-57. 17 for Temira Pointdexter, 12 for Zyanna Walker. Cats (22-4, 12-3) host Kansas on Saturday, followed by a crucial home game against Baylor on Monday with massive implications on the standings.
- Turns out that losing the first half by 18 is not a recipe for success.
- Taryn Sides poured in 21 off the bench to help #14 K-State (24-3, 12-2) to a 97-67 rout over UCF at Bramlage. Temira Pointdexter added 16, and Jaelyn Glenn and Zyanna Walker each had 14. Next: a Monday *afternoon* road test at #18 West Virginia.
- Reposted by Bring on the CatsGreg was, of course, the voice of K-State during the height of the Snyder I era, but I'm also sending thoughts to Husker Nation. Huge loss. Fuck cancer.
- Double double-double! Serena Sundell had 21 points and 10 assists, while Taryn Sides had 17 with 12 rebounds, as #14 K-State (23-3, 11-2) rolled to a 90-53 win over Cincinnati at Fifth Third. Tamira Pointdexter chipped in another 18. The ladies return home to take on Central Florida on Saturday.
- Reposted by Bring on the CatsArizona and Kansas State combine to go 3-41 from 3. That's the fewest 3PM in a game with 41 3PA or more since at least 1997. But honorable mention to this beauty, where Duquesne and Lipscomb combined to go 1-40.
- Okay, we're scared now.
- Eric talked with Brian Pedersen at Arizona Desert Swarm ahead of K-State's meeting with those other Wildcats from Tucson.
- The women, on the other hand, got drilled 85-55 at #25 Oklahoma State. They fall to 22-3 (10-2), and back into a tie for first with TCU, who walked all over Tech today.
- We'll say it again: Imagine if this team had shown up in December
- Pete Thamel reporting that the Dallas Cowboys are hiring Conor Riley as their OL coach, which presumably means Matt Wells will take over as OC for the Cats.
- Yes, this is hours late. Your benevolent despot had obligations. Serena Sundell poured in 27 and Jaelyn Glenn added 14 as #12 K-State took down #9 TCU 59-50 at Bramlage. Cats improve to 22-2 (10-1) and take sole possession of first place in the Big 12. Saturday afternoon, @ #25 Oklahoma State.
- An ugly win... is still a win
- K-State (11-11, 5-6) blew a big lead late, but two missed free throws at the death allow them to escape with a 71-70 win at Arizona State. David N'Guessan had 20 points and 8 boards to lead the way; Max Jones added 15, Brendan Hausen 12, and Coleman Hawkins 11. Dug McDaniel pitched in 9 assists. >>
- What's better than blowing out Iowa State? Blowing out Kansas. The Wildcat women (21-2, 9-1) give #11 K-State their third rivalry win in a four days with a 91-68 beatdown of the Jayhawks in Lawrence. (HIghlights in reply) Next up: the clash of titans. Wednesday night, #9 TCU comes to Bramlage.
- Jeez, K-State outscored the Clones 76-48 after around the 4-minute mark. SEVENTY SIX TO FORTY EIGHT
- List of times a sub-.500 team has won by 15+ on the road against an AP top-5 team: 1. K-State 80, #3 Iowa State 61, 2/1/2025 oh that's it that's the whole list
- Luke tried to pawn this off on someone else so that they could enjoy writing it, but we declined because he deserves the happiness
- Reposted by Bring on the CatsAfter the past 3-4 games, I'm no longer angry that K-State's men's basketball team sucks. They apparently don't. I'm now angry that we were, what, just fucking about the first 18 games of the season? @botc.bsky.social #KStateMBB
- Well, this was unexpected. K-State (10-11, 4-6) blows out #3 Iowa State, AT HILTON, 80-61. All five starters in double figures: McDaniel 20, Hawkins 17, Hausen 15, Max Jones 12, N'Guessan 10. Tuesday night, at Arizona State. Very very late. Have your stimulants at the ready.
- It had to go to overtime, but the Ayoka Lee-less #11 Wildcats (20-2, 8-1) escaped a late regulation collapse to defeat Iowa State 87-79 at Bramlage. Serena Sundell had 23 with 8 assists, 17 for Taryn Sides, 11 for Zy Walker, and 10 each for Jaelyn Glenn and Temira Pointdexter. Sunday: at Kansas!
- Yo, recap time
- Brendan Hausen went 5-5 from behind the arc and led the way with 18 points, and even without him K-State (9-11, 3-6) would have still beaten Oklahoma State by 10 as the Cats prevailed 85-57 at Bramlage. 15 for Hawkins, 14 for Max Jones, 10 for McDaniel. Saturday afternoon at #3 Iowa State. Gulp.
