- WashPo [10 May 25] -- Shocking endorsement by WashPo Editorial Board of 400-page anti-trans HHS attack on pediatric care: "careful and thorough... makes a legitimate case...clear and careful language... greater emphasis on psychotherapy in treating gender dysphoric youth." @rikiwilchins.bsky.social
- in other shit journalist news, Ben Ryan published a cancel culture eye-roller on twitter where he complains that if you don't want to associate with him because of his reporting on trans people, you're putting HIV+ people at risk because of his super special reporting on it.
- Legitimizing the RFK HHS is a million times more dangerous to HIV+ people than Ben Ryan could ever hope to be.
- do these fucking journalists know what these scared cis programs are like? do u think it's cool when kids get gooned in the middle of the night to a wilderness program where they get abused every day for months into pretending to be normal? do u know what trauma like that does to a person?
- I know someone who, as an ADULT, recently had a "therapist" threaten to have them repeatedly involuntarily institutionalized until they agreed to attend one of these programs in Idaho. Turns out she was practicing without a license.
- But imagine if they had agreed to go. Even as an adult, the program has nearly complete control over your life. There's no escape, and you don't even have a place to escape to. It's horrifying.
- The Cass Review gets peer reviewed and absolutely shredded Cass is the Wakefield of our time. A scandal in broad daylight
- Just out! Our peer-reviewed critique of the Cass Review has been published by BMC Medical Research Methodology. Please read and share. We show that the Cass Review is fatally flawed and should not be the basis for policy or practice in transgender healthcare. link.springer.com/article/10.1...

View full threadThere are higher rates of being autistic and other sorts of neurodiversity in trans people though, and also higher rates of being trans in autistic people too, so it’s not completely daft to assess people for this. Pre-natal testosterone for example can affect neurodiversity and gender identify too
- My suspicion is that allistic people are just bad at knowing that they're trans. We'd better put them all on puberty blockers just to be safe.
- I don't like doing Discourse but what else am I supposed to do when someone is Discoursing and I'm the only person in the whole universe who disagrees strongly enough to argue about it. Like, I have a responsibility.

- Sounds like it's not for you, and that you have some very specific ideas about what it'd be like (e.g. strongly hierarchical) that wouldn't necessarily be the case. You don't have to make it everyone else's problem.
- Why do you hate psycho-ontological autonomy so much? Just let people be person, geez.

- Gov. JB Pritzker signed an executive order that formally restricts the unauthorized collection of autism-related data by state agencies. Pritzker’s order responds to federal efforts under Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to create databases of personal information for those with autism.
- Thank you Pritzker, and thank you Addison Wright for platforming ASAN in this article.
