- ???????? it's putting you into the emotional shoes of the characters???? You're meant to not know who has been infected, if you can know, the dread is missing! THE AMBIGUITY IS THE POINT! THAT'S WHY IT'S SCARY, RODGER

- Imagine if 28 Days Later leaned hard into it, his very first act after pulling the IV out of his arm is to yank a grape-sized balloon out of his his urethra without anesthesia. Now he is unable to walk, shrieking in pain, for who knows how long. In a London full of sprinters.
- Bobby Adair's Slow Burn zombie series starts off with an interesting premise of: the *very* first people to encounter zombies will almost certainly get arrested for like, domestic violence and bar fighting and such. The next time they encounter a zombie, odds are they're in a cell or handcuffed etc
-
View full threadLike, the police are busy arresting and transporting and processing and abusing people going into shock muttering weird shit and confessing to having killed someone.
- More zombie stories should start with leaning into "the protagonist is *immediately* fucked up and put into the worst possible situation *before* the shit really starts"

- I cannot overstate how bad of a look it is for an official Democratic Party leadership organization to overturn election results to boot a young person who thinks the party needs a new generation of leaders. If we can’t work within the party, maybe we don’t need to be part of it.
-
View full threadHe said that the Democratic party has become the more judgemental party and that Republicans are more accepting. That "people don't want to side with the people who they have to walk on eggshells around" and shit like that, just made up BS. What he said sucked, but that's not why the Dem leadership
- wants him gone. They want him gone because he wanted to primary the useless lumps in safe Democratic districts to put in people who promise to actually help people financially. He doesn't seem to give a shit about stopping bigotry though, so I don't have TOO much sympathy for him.
- I spent more than a decade of my life working with leftists to build power in and through the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party has spent the last three years working to crush that effort. How am I supposed to tell anyone with a straight face that it’s worth pursuing that strategy?
- People like David Hogg, Cori Bush, and Jamaal Bowman were outsiders deeply concerned about the direction of our politics who decided to get involved and represent people who feel left behind. Rather than welcome new energy and ideas, the Democratic Party worked to crush them systematically.
- We need to understand this as a victory against trans hate and discrimination — it’s what otherwise moderate Mayor Jean Stothert made the entire end of her campaign about. Regular Americans don’t react to or receive the call to trans panic. Enough. We are speaking to the future.
- OMAHA HAS A NEW MAYOR: Douglas County Treasurer John Ewing Jr., a Democrat, was the clear pick of Omaha voters on Tuesday, ousting three-term Mayor Jean Stothert, a Republican. Get the story from Cindy Gonzalez and Aaron Sanderford: buff.ly/QdNbISc
- Democrats just flipped the Omaha mayor's office with ads like this. The right-wing obsession with genitals is starting to backfire.
- Also love how this is how I found out he won. I voted for him but tbh was nothing-ever-happens-pilled on it and fully expected she'd remain in office

- Shout out to the disabled community for always showing up, always being on the right side of history and justice, always willing to put their bodies on the line, all for the cause of making sure *everyone* has the basic dignity of health care.
- It'd be nice if we often weren't alone doing this—the lack of pushback for mask bans, and actions to protect healthcare from abled folks is frustrating. We're looking at large-scale social murder if this legislation succeeds—but few care if it's seen as mostly disabled people (tho it's not just us).
- Earlier today, I was leaked a copy of the Executive Secretariat Style Guide for the US State Department. The new guide included a new section requiring that all trans State employees must be misgendered in all official communications. www.patreon.com/posts/new-st...
- The new State Department guide bans they/them/their from referring to a single person, even if their gender is unknown, instead ordering the use of "he or she". www.patreon.com/posts/new-st...
- The new policy forcibly outs and potentially endangers trans employees assigned to countries that are potentially hostile to trans people. www.patreon.com/posts/new-st...
- I'll be completely honest: helping to secure this funding was one of my biggest policy wins when Congress was considering pandemic related actions. I am .... incredibly angry right now
- A few Palestinian YouTube channels have stopped because they were killed. These were kids. They sang songs & loved birds, and showed us the ocean. I'll never forget Medo, a young man growing a garden in the midst of a genocide. Israel killed him; he showed the world that Palestinians are human.
