- Reposted by alice e marwickIt is an understatement to call these acts of censorship and violations of academic freedom “culture wars.” The Trump administration is determining what can be taught, dictating what students can read, saying what ideas are acceptable, and disallowing inconvenient facts and texts.

- Wild that the NSF uses "effectuate" incorrectly throughout their terrible funding cut announcements/emails: "Research projects with more narrow impact limited to subgroups of people based on protected class or characteristics do not effectuate NSF priorities." EFFECTUATE DOES NOT MEAN REFLECT
- Reposted by alice e marwickThis statement from the NSF is insane. Science is, in essence, designed to separate the true from the false. Understanding how falsehoods spread is key to the scientific endeavor. It is not a violation of free speech to be proven wrong.

- Reposted by alice e marwickThis framing of "dependence" is fucking propaganda. The whole point of the federal government is to build and maintain national institutions that promote public health, education, scientific advancement, etc. The implication here is that those functions are a matter of private not public concern.
