- You are exhausting. If you want to talk to law enforcement without a lawyer, go ahead. SC allowed for 4th amendment exceptions @ border, but that does not mean you have to help them search your stuff & answer questions and if there are criminal proc, probable cause may still matter.

- It applies in the sense that they may not be able to use what they find, depending on probable cause. If you agree to the search, then everything that is found will be used in court.

- Right. Routine is one thing. But if they bring you into a room, search you, take your electronics and start interrogating you, instead of talking, you should invoke your rights and ask for a lawyer.
