- What video game started your #gaming* identity? For me, I'd have to say it was Final Fantasy VII. I'd played plenty of #games before-Sonic, Mario Brothers, Toe Jam & Earl, but I personally wouldn't have considered myself a gamer until 6th grade with FFVII. *This label of #gamer is personal to you.

- Oooo those both look great! (Had to Google them.)
- The Onion used to be satire. Now reality’s more absurd. Maybe it’s time they flip it: write headlines too wild for GOP: “Gov embraces science,” “4-day work week boosts productivity,” “Universal healthcare 👍🏻.” Maybe they’ll adopt it since it's so "absurd" & we'll be on a "normal" timeline again.😭
- Don't mind me. I just pressed control+q and not control+a and now my 17,938 (exaggeration, but likely only mildly) tabs are gone. 🙃
- What can a photo reveal about power, culture, or place? This fall at SDSU, I’m teaching SOC 496: Visual Sociology. We’ll explore street art, museums, theory, and end with a student gallery walk. #VisualSociology #SDSUCourses #CreativeResearch #sociology #SDSU

- Hi! I don't mind. You can DM me if you'd like how best to contact you.
- That’s such a great pick, FFVII definitely had that “this is more than just a game” impact for a lot of us, For me, it was The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I got fully pulled into another world. That adventure, the music, the puzzles it felt like I wasn’t just playing, I was living it.
- Yes! Ocarina is a great one too. It's cool because my kid loves it now, too, so we can nerd out with it lol.
- I haven’t written much while in Spain, but I’ve scribbled more notes than I have in years & written more blog posts than usual. But, I have found more inspiration here. We leave in just over 3 weeks, & I’m so sad, but now ready to dedicate to my stories again. #Fulbright #Writing #CreativeProcess
- A poem I wrote in 2018 for Mother's Day. Still relevant today. www.perpetual-wanderlust.com/post/this-mo... Here's a photo of the people who paved the way, and for whom I try to pave the way—my kids, my mom, & both of my grandmothers. #writing #poem #writer #poetry #mothersday #mom
- Amazing how getting sleep can shift everything. Mine's been a mess: late starts, no focus, & depression creeping in. Finally caved & took some meds last night. Not a magic fix, but I woke up early, had coffee, graded, wrote for my novel & book proposal, & planned my day. Hoping to stick to it 🤞🏻🤞🏻
- What are some of your writing inspirations? I think the biggest inspirations for me, as of late, have been my experience living abroad & a few notable films & shows, like Star Trek, Star Wars, & Doctor Who. I've been finally feeling a renewed motivation thanks to these. #writing #doctorwho #films
- Our country needs to be a society where learning and intellectual curiosity are encouraged beyond the classroom and into adulthood. But we also need to teach the critical thinking skills to help people parse the media and information they’re consuming to 🧵
- Don't mind me, I follow you here & Threads 😅 I agree 💯. I teach sociology & I often bring in popular culture like films, TV, books, video games and more, so they can see how this critical thinking can & should take shape in our daily lives. Classrooms are vital, but we need it everywhere.
- If you support the policing of the border between the U.S. & Mexico and the kidnapping of humans, but also support the statement about the "artificially drawn line" between the U.S. & Canada, your issue may not be legality, but your willingness to adopt a cult mentality & good old fashioned racism.

- I'm unfortunately so far behind 😭But the discourse here is motivating me to get caught up.
- Five application rejections without even a first interview for academic jobs in a matter of 6 hours must be a record of some sort. That's cool. I'm not existentially spiraling or anything.🤷🏻♀️😭🙃 #phdlife #academia #academics #phd #academiclife
- This city has felt more like home than anywhere I've been in the United States. #malaga #spain #livingabroad
- Malaga was recently ranked as one of the friendliest cities in Europe for foreign expats and visitors!
- It's an incredible city. It's felt like home more than other cities where I've lived.
- Absolutely horrendous
- I've been in a slump lately, but putting it out into the Bluesky universe: I will write today for at least 30 minutes. #writing #writer #writinglife #writingcommunity

- 👏🏻
- People who claim they're fans of #DoctorWho, a 2 hearted time traveling alien that has advocated for the environment, criticized government corruption, had Sarah Jane rallying women's liberation, & more, (though not w/out problems) then criticize its "woke agenda" clearly weren't paying attention. 🙄
- As a research methods instructor, teaching how to understand research designs and develop a literacy for scientific articles, this is terrifying. But, since we're on the topic now of misinformation, I want you to do something. Go to COVID.gov. #covid #science #research #misinformation
- After online teaching through COVID, one of my HS students said, "Ms. Charlene, did you know somebody actually created a half human half fish?" He showed me a YouTube video, and it was clearly disinformation. Timing was perfect for media literacy. And we still need it now more than ever.
- Oh, and then the government is also trying to intimidate medical journals, specifically CHEST, into "viewpoint diversity." www.nbcnews.com/science/scie...
- Not me sobbing like a baby when Buck switches from calling him Cap to Bobby, and then Bobby Nash tells Buck, "I love you, kid." #tv #bobbynash
- Not sure what could get folks in the U.S. to believe in science & reject the narratives reproduced by those in power now, but whoever made “cut your plastic rings to save the turtles” & “it’s illegal to drive w/ the internal car light on” becomes things should create some new campaigns. #PSA
- For #academics or #teachers who have left #teaching: what do you do now, and how did you leverage your skills to get there? Due to budget cuts, I was just told I’ll have fewer classes in Spring 2026 despite strong evals, #research, advising & community work. Looking for insight. #highered #education
- Wild how many #highered “leaders” cite Freire, hooks, Du Bois, Crenshaw & others in email sigs & workshops yet uphold & bow to authoritarianism. Clearly they see anti-oppression & students as abstract ideas, not real humans, staying comfy in their roles. Disheartening, alas not surprising. #academia
