- Tom Fletcher's speech at the UN embodied "British" values we can be proud of, which of course are not uniquely British but shared by all who value kindness & mutual care. I grew up in a Britain where such values were often contrasted with the genocidal violence of fascism.

- Left: Starving Jewish children in the Warsaw Ghetto, 1941. Right: Starving Palestinian children in Gaza. This photo is from 2024, more than a year ago. There is no excuse, ever, for starving children to death. Israel is committing #genocide in plain sight.

- Reposted by Tom ScottThere is anti-social behaviour in our parks & town centres, but that's not the fault of immigration. It's because there are no public toilets. There are very few drugs services. There are too few English classes for foreigners. These are services that have been cut, a failure of government.

- No evidence has been seen that a #genocide is occurring in #Gaza or that women & children have been targeted by the IDF, UK government lawyers claim. Do these lawyers & the government ministers that instruct them sleep soundly? They don't deserve to. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...
- One of many reasons why the EHRC guidance on"single sex" facilties is completely unworkable and if imposed will lead to endless & completely unnecessary hassle & grief for all sorts of people - and for businesses and institutions that cater to them.

- This is what Tory prime minister Ted Heath said when sacking Enoch Powell from his shadow cabinet in 1968. Starmer's speech today was a dangerous & disgustingly cynical attempt to outflank Farage by demonising migrants. Labour ministers can't sack Starmer but they could & should resign.

- Reposted by Tom ScottThe Green Party has always been clear, the Government must recognise the state of Palestine. And now Labour are even being outflanked by the Tories on this issue. In the face of clear genocide and ethnic cleansing by Israel, there is only one correct course of action.

This week, let us honour those who resisted tyranny—not just in words, but in how we stand up against hatred and division today.

- Struggling to imagine what "Love Britain" classes as envisaged by Reform would look like. Or how teachers will be enthused to tell lies about the British Empire. But confidently predict the result would be a net loss of love for both Britain and its educational system.
- The Observer was sold out of the Guardian Media Group (owned by the Scott Trust) a few weeks ago. It's now owned - like most UK media - by a billionaire-backed consortium. And hey presto - a puff piece for the Kinder, Küche, Kirche women of Reform!
- Trump has nothing in common with Pope Francis. But perhaps he has in mind Pope Stephen VI, who exhumed his dead predecessor in order to put him on trial. Or Pope Alexander VI, notorious for bribery, nepotism, orgies & giving his blessing to the enslavement of native Americans.

- Wonder how many people who voted for Reform on Thursday know that Nigel Farage is *very* close to the AfD - now classified by Germany's intelligence agency as an extremist far-right organisation and a threat to democracy?
- Greens when elected put in the hard yards for their constituents. That's why so many Green councillors were *re-elected* this week, and joined by more. Reform councillors will posture & bloviate about culture war stuff but do f*** all else.

- St Andrews rector wins appeal over Gaza "genocide" claim. Stella Maris had commented on Israel's "genocidal attacks" against civilians. For speaking the truth, she was removed from her post. www.bbc.com/news/article...
- The Greens now have nearly 200 more councillors than Reform. This is not something you'd be likely to guess from all the copiously salivating media coverage of Farage & his crew of billionaire-backed far-right chancers.
- Another record year for the Green Party 👏 859 Councillors on 170 Councils in England & Wales Now join us to keep Greens growing and to take the fight to Reform join.greenparty.org.uk
- Interesting research from @moreincommonuk.bsky.social. At the local elections, many Reform voters were "sending a signal to national government". Somewhat like banging your head on a brick wall? Such "signals" can be both ambiguous & hazardous to their sender.
