Ramzan Kadyrov requested from Putin his resignation as the head of the Republic of Chechnya. This is an earthquake within Russia‘s political system.
May 6, 2025 21:43Kadyrov is an ardent Putin loyalist and an important pillar of Putin‘s rule. There is probably nobody who holds as much as power in the Russian world as Kadyrov, except for Putin.
His resignation probably caused due to his deteriorating health situation could cause a major chain reaction in Russia.
Many in the Russia media sphere and Russia altogether are almost entirely holding their breath. Russia is entering uncharted waters.
Why wasn't the standard russian resignation method used this time?
We have to wait what Putin will decide. This is not the first time Kadyrov has asked for his resignation. He made similar statements in 2016, 2017, and 2022, according to the independent Russian media outlet Astra. In previous cases, his resignation was not approved

Reports have surfaced that "concentration camps" have been opened up in Chechnya where gay men are being detained and tortured to commit that they would leave the republic.
