I publish public domain graph analysis tools that help people model, document, understand, operate and improve systems without servers, administrators or experts.
Bluesky is a ship's log of my journey, and opportunity for interaction.
- @hamishcampbell.bsky.social I found this video useful to put your writing in perspective. Do you have something better? youtu.be/txCLtKpDwNE

- ... and staying up all night tweaking XF86config...
- Look, that book took me through compiling a kernel, configuring xfree86 (nerve wracking exercise, even with my generic hardware) and all kinds of wonderful stuff!!! Thanx for posting!!!

- Congrats to @ngerakines.me for a new version of @smokesignal.events. This is a very major rewrite, and also open sourcing of the whole codebase - with more features yet to come! Events connect people - the exact kind of thing that should be available on an open protocol.
- I'm so excited for this to go out. Over the past several months, the Smoke Signal app has been rewritten and refactored to support some big (currently in-development) features and have plenty of room to grow.

- here's a little nugget on the structure of the merkle search tree (mst) at the heart of atproto repositories. first context: the mst is essentially a key-value store. not often pointed out: its structure is fully determined by its keys and not its values. sometimes i like to think of it as a grid:

- reality eventually reasserts itself. "smart" is always what it takes to adapt to one's environment, whether that's preserving attention span despite dopamine saturation (the past ten years), or acquiring independent thinking despite automated reasoning (the next ten years)

- Yellowstone is not becoming active! Can we spread this so the hysteria can stop!? Let's repeat Yellowstone is not any threat! We have plenty of real ones let's focus please.
- I assume this is coming from this news. The key takeaway here should be: “The data adds to existing evidence that Yellowstone is not facing an imminent volcanic eruption.” www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2025/...

- So these crazy people at @owdproject.org built a #Desktop #WebOS —with an optional cute af #Windows95 theme— and then built a @bsky.app client for it 🙃 You can open multiple BlueSky windows and it works *just fine* @jay.bsky.team this is cool af
- Today, 166 years ago Alexander von Humboldt died (he was 89 years). He changed the way we think about nature (describing it as a web of life) & predicted climate change. Can't believe it's been 10 years since I published 'Invention of Nature'. It's change my life. In so many ways.

- Authentication is hard. We've been juggling OAuth and pockets full of app passwords, and we're know we're not the only ones. That's why today, we're open sourcing an all in one, best-in-class service that anyone can use to deal with ATProto authentication - for free.

- ATProto is not as concerned with Erdogan, Orban, or a DDoS as it is with Bluesky PBC turning on you. numergent.com/2025-04/Thre... The way things are going, you better get good at articulating what your threat model is, and avoid any service that can't articulate theirs.
