- apparently Elon's gotten so mad about Grok not answering questions about Afrikaners the way he wants, xAI's now somehow managed to put it into some kind of hyper-Afriforum mode where it thinks every question is about farm murders or the song "Kill the Boer"
- Bugs makes this case accurately and eloquently. what happened is not "man speaks from beyond the grave" what happened is "they showed an expensive cartoon in court"
- Looks like @apnews.com is using AI to summarize articles without even checking for basic facts... Or are they really this ignorant about Canada? Either way, shameful.
- FYI this was from Google News, and the linked article correctly states it was Quebec that had referendums. So direct outrage to Google too. But does @apnews.com know Google News is summarizing their articles with lies and attributing that to an AP journalist's name?
- I saw something like this the other day, a journalist who was no longer at Bloomberg or something similar — with bogus articles credited to her. I don’t know how to blame @apnews.com for this. Google is playing man-in-the-middle and isn’t even providing traffic.
- If you're interested in language, AI, and cognition, this is the *must-watch* video of the week: Debate a few days ago between Dr. @emilymbender.bsky.social and Dr. @sbubeck.bsky.social on whether chatbots can "understand". Was a lively and fun debate to watch. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtIQ...

- "If you want a labor force, a regulatory bureaucracy, or accountability to disappear, you simply say, 'AI can do it.' Then, the conversation shifts from explaining why these things should or should not go away to questions about how AI would work in their place." - @eryk.bsky.social

- How can we bolster rights of assembly for communities facing online threats? CAT Lab has a new pre-print on the behavioral science of assembly & association. Working with a large feminism group, we explain how harassment hinders association and test an effective countermeasure. osf.io/b42q6/
