Some will say that Badenoch was simply telling porkies, but I think more likely, frankly, that she simply wasn't across the detail of the trade deal enough to know:

May 7, 2025 15:24I just find it bizarre. Hague was rushed into the leader's office because the top 2 candidates dropped out. IDS & Corbyn were ideological candidates who won as underdogs despite their clear limitations. Badenoch was agitating for the role for years, was the clear frontrunner & yet can't do it at all
How has this party became so rotten that someone this incompetent and lazy was written up as a rising star? Especially considering it made a similar mistake with Liz Truss two years before. It takes a lot to kill a political party here but repeatedly electing the likes of Truss & Badenoch will do it
This feels like something you would have written about Labour at any point between about 2012 and 2019 tbf
Reminds me of those roads in Scotland with boulders perked precariously on both sides, which could collapse at any point between tomorrow and ten thousand years from now
