- A baseball practice facility opened up nearby, and I really recommend an hour in the batting cage as the best way to turn unproductive feelings into being sore in a bunch of weird places
- Headed to #PyConUS, thinking about how to approach the excitement. nedbatchelder.com/blog/202505/...
- 💯 this. I also describe PyCon as "like summer camp". Something that also fits into this analogy is the post-camp blues. Coming down off the excitement of PyCon summer camp can feel mildly depressing the week after. @kojoidrissa.bsky.social has written about this: kojoidrissa.com/conferences/...

- I feel like we’re only a year or two away from the Prequel Special Editions that replace Ewan with what should have been there all along: a de-aged CGI Alec Guinness with TTS trained on all his movies.
- In other news Rogue One is still flawed-but-compelling and god damn just recast Tarkin, this isn’t hard, there’s lots of spooky old British dudes, I’m sure you could have found one, just recast, just recast, just re

- I’m officially a CPython Core Developer! 🐍 I’ve been using Python since 2006 — contributing back was a dream, and now it’s real. Huge thanks to everyone who supported me, and to Arm for backing me from day one. It’s not the destination — it’s the journey. 💙 🔗 discuss.python.org/t/vote-to-pr...
- Two weeks on from @swearyanthony.bsky.social's fall, he is tracking along the very best of best case scenarios given the size of the bleed. Truly he is on the fucking miracle pathway. On the weekend, he moved out of ICU and onto the ward. We have a long recovery ahead, but things are optimistic. 1/
- I know my brother @swearyanthony.bsky.social has a lot of people he cares about on here. While not everyone knows about the connection, a lot of people who follow me also follow him. This seemed like a way to get the word out: Anthony is currently in ICU in a critical condition after a head injury.
- Physically, he is mostly unaffected. He has also retained his memory quite well. He is experiencing a fair amount of confusion which we hope will get better quickly, but honestly it's wild that he is where he is so fast. Thank god for our public hospital system and the people who staff it. 2/

- OK, this is wild. In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them. It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*. What the HELL? 1/
