Life is an endless series of contextual ethics problems. Then you die.
- Look people are like ~BAKING IS A SCIENCE IT IS DELICATE CHEMISTRY ALL MUST BE PRECISION AND KITCHEN SCALES~ My grandma did her daily baking by feel. She knew when the dough felt right so she started with about the right amount of flour and tweaked things until she got the right dough.
- I got news for people about how precise science actually is 👀
- "These cookies are delicious, within the constraints of the method detection limit of course."
- One thing I've learned from this steady stream of product is to try to find room in your decks for cards you're interested in before you buy them. Otherwise, you order them, and you realize they either don't make the cut or you don't have any room for them and now you have kind of wasted money.
- Or, counterpoint - once you order 60 cards that didn't make the cut in your other decks, build that pile a manabase and choose its Commander!
- I dislike the current social media economy where the amount given to your fundraiser has a direct correlation to the number of people you have attracted as friends "Being clever enough to perform online" shouldn't be the baseline for deciding if you can get housing when your home burns down
- Humorless git: "SOCIAL MEDIA SHOULDN'T HANDLE CRISES LIKE THAT, A CARING GOVERNMENT SHOULD" Yes. But it doesn't now, and so GoFundMes are what pick up the slack
- At one point while writing my dystopic sci-fi book about ghost hunters set in 2140, I had one of the viewpoint characters ask why the core infrastructure of the decrepit US healthcare system was named GoFundMe, but that felt a little too dark even for me.
- Putting a couple of links down because "something I predicted" may or may not happen (or have already happened, if the count is wrong and one of Trump's recent Executive Orders has not been listed on the website yet). www.whitehouse.gov/presidential... en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...

View full threadNow that it's been long enough that the final numbers have been assigned and they've been posted to the official website, we now know that Trump's executive order declaring the cops can get away with a lot more shit now was the one assigned The Bonus Racist Numbers. But not on 4/20 at least.
- (I had expected some bullshit EO about "combatting antisemitism" issued every 100 EO's using these numbers just to troll, and that is not what happened, but *this* being the one with The Extra Bonus Troll-y Number Attached still isn't great. He basically declared "yep, let's do fascism guys.")
- I'm still not clear why the @nytimes.com went along the idea that a presidential library owning a jet for the personal use of the ex-president was anything that real presidential libraries do. Weird.
- Remember "Obamafare" — the $100K ticket price (bribe) to fly on the massive luxury private jet gifted to Obama by penguins from Heard Island and McDonald Islands? After which Obama signed EOs improving fish stocks and flavor by reducing pollution in the Antarctic Ocean?
- Surprised they haven't tried to turn us against the penguins by claiming they live on Amber Heard Island yet.
- Put together a second draft of this guy, mostly realizing how many counterproductive cards I had added, since a permanent that causes a creature card to go to Exile rather than the graveyard also negates my Commander. A third draft will likely be due, as I think I'm also building a mono black deck.
-
View full threadThe middle of the curve is higher than usual for me, because this deck is slower and more patient and trying to play a longer more controlling game. I still should probably find room for some more three-drops, because "wanting to play something to the board before I play my Commander" is reasonable.
- The top of the curve stops at 7, though mostly because I didn't do a Gatherer search of 8cc+ blue/black creatures. Everyone Hates Toxrill apparently, but I am gonna play it somewhere and here seems most harmless honestly. Don't like it? Play more removal.
- (The deck, as an aside, because Mercadian Masques era Standard is *surely* what everyone here is super interested in hearing more about.)
- To give a sense of where I am at with this deck, it was almost an Ancient One deck - cast on turn two, activate discarding some huge creature and mill myself, my 8/8 Commander can swing on turn four. But I keep trying to make Lazav work and I think it will as long as I get out of my own damn way.
- I did not cut them to make you happy, I cut them because I realized any Leyline of the Void type effect means my Commander's shapeshift ability never actually triggers. I will of course take Made Erin Happy Finally as an accomplishment, even if I don't get to draw a card.
