- Are you from PA?? 😂
- Twitter. Did I do it right?? 🤪

- Wow, that's amazing. My co-pay was $200, and it was waived because I did a maternity wellness program through my insurance company. Another example of how our employee-based insurance is deeply inequitable!
- A story of rebellion against an "oppressive, corrupt, genocidal power ... (complete with chilling real-life parallels)" - is exactly what I need right now !!!
- My first five-star review for Empire and it’s for Andor Season 2. Staggeringly good television, I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I finished it. Whether you’re a Star Wars fan or not, this, especially right now, is a must-watch show. Read it here: www.empireonline.com/tv/reviews/a...

- I told Jon that this looked so fantastical that it had to be made up, like the satellite imagery in The Day After Tomorrow
- My husband works in research data management and knows some things about … data management.

- My daughter is autistic and I 100% agree. Autism speaks has done a lot of harm perpetuating stereotypes about these kids (and adults?).

- I lived there for two years! It’s lovely of course. I miss my morning beach run. We enjoyed Santa Cruz better because there were more people our age. Have you been to Point Lobos?
- Highly recommend if you have time!

- Walter, I am so sorry! Nobody deserved this :(

- That is so sweet. I had a minor surgery last week and my 5 yo daughter was very careful with me and put me to bed in the evening. Of course, I wasn’t quite ready for bed yet 🤣
- I’m sorry that you and so many other valuable fed employees are going through this. No one deserves this. I hope that our Congressional reps are hearing our displeasure and start to grow a backbone!

- It’s a lack of humility, valuing individual liberty to such a degree that the individual must be able to ascertain truth (or what is right) and not depend on others. IMHO.

- Literally covered Coriolis force yesterday! It's so awkward!

- I am deeply saddened to hear this. This is all so senseless.
- If you're doom scrolling, please consider taking some action by visiting 5calls.org, picking an issue/issues that are important to you, and calling your local Congress person. They provide scripts!

- I think most people are unaware of the full R platform. There is some good journalism, but people are mostly getting info from unreliable a/o slanted sources, institutions, & media. Also, our electoral system is deeply flawed and benefits candidates with force of personality over merit & integrity.
- My daughter has an IEP. I’m in a Facebook group for parents if special needs kids in Virginia. In November, after the election, some were posting about this possibility and T voters were like “No, that will never happen. Everybody supports kids with special needs!” 🤯

- It was first developed by Susan Cutter at USC, and her university website provides links to recent journal articles that summarize its broad reach: sc.edu/study/colleg...
- Nevermind, I guess they are different. Cutter's is the SoVI. I always thought they were the same!
- New Orleans and Mobile, AL have had more snow than Blacksburg, VA this winter.

- If you’re at #AMS2025 consider this town hall! The requirements for a federal government “meteorologist” (the 1340 series) are from the 1990s. Many undergraduate programs use these guidelines in curriculum planning. Modernizing the requirements would close the gap with a modernize curriculum.
- I’m sorry I missed this session. I had another obligation at this time. I’m very interested! Let me know if you are looking for volunteers to aid in this effort!

- Did you go to RU dinner? I wanted to but I was so tired, operating on two hours of sleep. I hope to catch you at a coffee break or something!

- Same, lol. But since I've already been here a day, I might be able to stay up a little later tonight. I have a lot of trouble with evening events/time zone differences.
- Yes
- Wouldn't it be awesome if there was an equivalent of the @ametsoc.bsky.social Certified Consulting Meteorologist program but for a Certified Climate Scientist? And how about a climate certificate for professionals in other fields to demonstrate their completion of climate training? #AMS2025

- When I talk to my daughter this morning, she was very excited about seeing Mars and now I have more context :)
- There is a VT student and alumni dinner if you can make it!

- I have no interest in going outside to measure 😂 but I’m seeing an NWS met measured 0.3 inches near me and that sounds about right.
- Heavy FZRA coming through right now based on radar but surface temps getting close to 32F and hopefully inching above freezing soon. Trees look okay near my house.
- I grew up in Pgh, and I don’t remember personally experiencing an ice storm with more than about 0.2 inches. Most of the ice I remember has been here in VA!
- This is not looking good 😦
- This is what I’m covering in tropical meteo right now and why I have my students making thickness maps as they learn about the cyclone phase space!
- For my trop met class, I need my students to be able to plot 1000-500 mb thickness using a simple web interface. NCEP/NCAR reanalysis only works through 2014. UWyoming not working. Plymouth State Univ website is great but plots based on upper air data - so not great for TC over ocean. Any ideas??

- Thanks for linking. I may use Jupyter notebook the next time I do this lab with students. For a short term solution, I made my own plots (because I didn’t have anything else I needed to do 🤦♀️)
- [Not loaded yet]
- Oooh that’s good to know. I ended up plotting them myself using NARR data.

- If I had more time, I'd set up a Jupyter notebook. The students are working on the lab right now so I was hoping for quick fix :)

- @burgwx.bsky.social @barrett-weather.bsky.social Oops! I should have mentioned that the students are doing past TCs from 2017 - 2021, so the website needs to be able to draw from archived or reanalysis data
- I might need to generate these plots myself in Python...
- Take 2: I'm not teaching QG theory until next semester.. but this MSLP evolution will make for a fun discussion! 🌊W A V E S 🌊
