I'm not sure when the last time Roanoke had a third of an inch of ice accretion, certainly hasn't happened in my two decades-plus following local weather. Temps in upper 20s might wiggle into lower 30s but probably don't rise above freezing with prior snowpack.
This is not looking good 😦
Hopefully we can somehow get some sleet mix or at least warm right to 32 with rain freezing a little less rapidly.
Heavy FZRA coming through right now based on radar but surface temps getting close to 32F and hopefully inching above freezing soon. Trees look okay near my house.
I grew up in Pgh, and I don’t remember personally experiencing an ice storm with more than about 0.2 inches. Most of the ice I remember has been here in VA!
I had a lot of sleet last night so the ice isn't terrible on trees where i'm at. Actually grew the snow/sleetpack an inch or so. Roads are about as treacherous as possible though. ... 2 or 3 worst ice storms I've been in personally were in Arkansas. Gotta get the warm on top of the cold for big ice.
I have no interest in going outside to measure 😂 but I’m seeing an NWS met measured 0.3 inches near me and that sounds about right.
Oof. So glad we were all snow here. I hate ice storms.
I miss real snow days! This is not a great day for sledding lol.
