- Reposted by Jason Coupetthe two big camps in dem politics right now are "just have some values and fight for them" and [smugly] "values? what are you, five?"
- Reposted by Jason Coupet"Women are PIs on 58% of the canceled grants, although they are PIs on only 34% of all active NSF grants. Similarly, Blacks are PIs on 17% of the terminated grants, although they make only 4% of the total pool. Hispanic PIs and those with disabilities were twice as likely to lose a grant."
- Another scoop from Jeff Mervis (@policyhound.bsky.social): NSF's ~1400 grant terminations have disproportionately affected PIs from groups underrepresented in science: women, racial & ethnic minorities, & those with disabilities. 1/3 www.science.org/content/arti...

- I think we can chill on putting the term “creep” after “fascist creep.” We’ve been there for awhile now imo but maybe the rest of you can admit this now.
- It’s been depressing to realize the number of people that have grown up to be mean, petty, jealous, resentful, unethical, racist, mudslinging, messy trolling pieces of shit. In my youth, I knew there were problematic folks but I thought the modal adult was mostly well adjusted. I dunno now man.
- Despite being an absolutely thoroughly degenerate Chicago South Sider till death do me part, New York City is my favorite city in all the world man. It’s everything that makes this country great. 25 million people from every corner of this earth hustling together, talking shit and sharing food.
- Could you even fucking imagine if… lol
- Reposted by Jason Coupet“Massive numbers of students are going to emerge from university with degrees, and into the workforce, who are essentially illiterate…Both in the literal sense and in the sense of being historically illiterate and having no knowledge of their own culture, much less anyone else’s.”

- You have to hand it to him. There is seemingly an endless supply of stupid mfs to bamboozle man and he is here for absolutely all of it. www.cnbc.com/amp/2025/05/...
- A buddy of mine brought this up: Is there anybody that actually believes that assassination attempt wasn’t staged? This mf complains and whines incessantly about every tiny little MF grievance and he ain’t mentioned that shit one time I’ve heard since he won.
- Daily to reminder people in northern cities: Alot of the southern states would be solidly blue but many of these states make it *absurdly* difficult for black people and poor people, especially poor black people, to vote. The Shelby decision was absolutely devastating.
- 💯 I live and work with a lot of middle and upper middle class liberals. Some of them have good values. Many others do a lot of posturing but materially are awful petty crass opportunists that are deeply invested in status and hierarchy. They *enjoy* inequity and rig systems for their kids.
- I just learned My 11yo has spent the weekend writing a 12 page literature review exploring the links between socioeconomic status and educational outcomes. For fun. And it’s solid. North of the quality of our median undergraduate. But more importantly…wtf. What kind of kid does this for fun.
- Reposted by Jason CoupetNEW: When a firefighter dies, a small team of federal health workers helps pinpoint what went wrong and identify how to avoid similar accidents in the future. Trump laid off nearly all of them.
- I swear the 4yo came out of the womb obsessed with sports. It gets worse every year. He is finally old enough to play on “real” teams and omg he takes it so seriously. In baseball he’s the only kid on the field never screwing around. Hes always ready. Look at him at shortstop. It’s his religion.
- lol 💀
- I swear this media tries so hard to whitewash violent fascism.
- American media are truly stuck on stupid. www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcn...
- Whew man www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/fda...
- I’ve often wondered aloud if American fascism was so hard to recognize by liberals because they are expecting uniformed brownshirts. But a lot of America’s most violent fascism has always been deputized. Anyone can get a war weapon and act as their own racist Brownshirt and kill whoever they want.

- 6’3, 225 is the exact height and playing weight of prime Terrell Owens. Hats off to my mans for keeping himself absolutely shredded with Filet O Fish meals and golf carts.
- My best guess is 6’1, 315-335. No way he’s a pound under that.
- Reposted by Jason Coupet"The left went too far" in contemporary U.S. politics is almost always a lie and a very convenient way to rationalize moral failure. For example, "MeToo went too far" replaces "I do not care about sexual violence or its victims and I don't want to have to even feel bad about that"

- Same lol. Someone right wing nut job sent a fake pipe bomb looking thing with confetti innit to my office because I said homeless people soundly be homeless over on that other site. I told my therapist and she almost fell out of her chair.
- 11yo: I’m not going to school today. I don’t feel like going to math. “Yes you are. I’m your dad and that’s that.” 11yo: How are you going to call yourself dismantling race and class hierarchies outside while you reinforce a hierarchy at home? Huh? Man middle school is…something.

- It’s hard to argue that any of the masculinities we have been socialized into are healthy. But our current world where the resentful misogynist keyboard hater comment box troll defines a “real man” is strange. The words we grew up with for people like that were surely not masculine ones lol.
- I was explaining this to my students yesterday. I was introducing cost benefit analysis, and we went through the baseline expectations for a firm-level CBA. We then went through a social cost benefit analysis, and they were blown away at how much harder and more rigorous they usually are.
- Shocker lol. Man higher Ed is in trouble.
- I just mostly feel bad for the kids doomed to grow up in these households man. So much suffering and death.

- Academics have been pedantic and annoying for as long as there have been universities. Magically the public now notices it and hates us? Nah dawg. What it is is that the minds of disaffected men these institutions now confer elite status on women and minorities. So they don’t like them anymore.
- Been saying it forever: election rigging in the south works wonders.
- This new Bill Burr special man…I hope every Democratic Party member watches this. It’s just so on point.
- Reposted by Jason CoupetAs chair of our senate academic policy committee, I just proposed 1) developing a P&T research impact statement (similar to Covid) to support faculty whose research is being halted/blocked and 2) revamping P&T criteria to account for everything breaking. If you're doing the same, let's talk!
- Reposted by Jason CoupetWith the attacks on science and academia by the current administration, if those of us who have tenure don't speak up, it's really hard to continue justifying the tenure system based on academic freedom.
- This was always it. This the same reasoning as “I don’t watch the NBA, they are a bunch of lazy rich crybabies.” Alotta folks just can’t stand the idea of rich black people. Racism is such a profound social force here. It’s often stirring the drink when it doesn’t look like it on the surface.

- I swear to god this is the only thing that makes any sense.
