People who were rescued called me, their families in tears. It was the moment I realised that my satisfaction comes not from recognition or personal fame but from action.
So most of my activist/political work has been behind the scenes and largely voluntary.
This understanding my work brought me was quite empowering. It unshackled me. I was able to run campaigns based on how effective I thought they were, and not on how many followers or fame it might bring me.
For instance, in 2022 I spent my own money running my own ads in Rwanda.
