Can't remember who said it, but using ChatGPT for your college essays is like using a forklift to move the weights around at the gym.
It's the process that's important to your development, not the end product.

It's been a long time since I was in college, but at times the essays felt like make-work. Probably that was me being lazy. Possibly some of my professors weren't very good teachers.
In any case, when I felt like course credit was the point of the exercise, ChatGPT would have been tempting.
It also reminds me of the people who “walk” their dog in a little trailer, lol
