EUMETSAT OSI SAF
EUMETSAT's Ocean and Sea Ice Satellite Application Facility. 🛰
We are the dedicated @eumetsat.bsky.social centre for processing satellite data at the ocean-atmosphere interface.
- Today, we'd like to introduce you to our local manager at the @knmi.nl : Anton Verhoef. He's responsible for our #ocean surface #wind products. To learn more , check this video ▶️ youtu.be/9KpcL9gRgaY
- Our sea-ice index provides data visualisations that can be used directly by journalists. Here an example (in french) ! with: @gwenbras.bsky.social www.futura-sciences.com/planete/actu...

- Our #seaice team has developed a Sea Ice Index, online since several years, at osisaf-hl.met.no/v2p2-sea-ice.... It offers visuals of the trends and evolution of sea ice at hemispheric, global and regional scales. It includes the sea-ice extent and area since 1978, and is continuously updated.
- That's terrible news to read. For us documenting #SeaIce, having colleagues that share comparable data obtained by different algorithms is a form of quality assessment of our own data. It is a terrible loss for us as it is for our whole user community. @eumetsat.int @nsidc.bsky.social
- This is horrible. I don't even know what to say. Some of our most key polar data. "As a result, the level of services for affected products below will be reduced to Basic—meaning they will remain accessible but may not be actively maintained, updated, or fully supported." nsidc.org/data/user-re...
- Reposted by EUMETSAT OSI SAFAt least global, henispheric and regional sea ice indexes are available from @osi-saf.eumetsat.int per today. A new upgraded version 3.0 is soon to be released with full coverage of regional indexes using NSIDCs regional mask on both hemispheres.
- Reposted by EUMETSAT OSI SAFSea ice data on @polarportal.bsky.social is from European @osi-saf.eumetsat.int group, sea ice thickness + Greenland surface mass balance is from @dmidk.bsky.social's operational models + #GRACE satellite data is from our partners @dtucryo.bsky.social as part of @esaclimate.bsky.social ❄️🥼⚒️🧪⛏️🌊
- Good morning! Quick reminder that you can see the current state of the #Arctic #SeaIce on @polarportal.bsky.social where you can also see how the # Greenland Ice Sheet mass budget from GRACE and the daily surface mass budget from @dmidk.bsky.social Some big improvements + new data coming soon too

- Monday 07/04, @noaa.gov has change operationnal satellite on GOES-East position. Last files from GOES-16 for our GOES-East Sea Surface Temperature and Radiative fluxes products were the 14:00 UTC. Our SST product resumed with GOES-19 data at 16:00 UTC, while our RF products have been discontinued.

- Global Sea Ice extent in the arctic is at record low since several days. We never recorded that few Sea Ice on earth since the beginning of satellite Sea Ice Extent measurement in 1978.

- Hello @bsky.app! A lot of our followers have precede us here, and we are happy to join in! For those that don't know us, we are a working group of @eumetsat.bsky.social processing #satellite #Marinedata . We provide free and open data about Sea Surface temperature, Sea Ice and ocean surface wind. 🌊🛰️
